"Lovely homes and gardens around Akaroa, all so very well kept. Plenty of choose for eating or takeaways. Town and shops interesting. Great to get away from malls and large franchises. You soon slowdown and relax there. Would hate to see it go the way Queenstown has developed.."

This hotel is wonderful 150 years old! We had the king room and loved it. The balcony overlooking Governors Bay is spectacular. We enjoyed a meal in the pub and the pool! The breakfast was self serve with a lot of food. The bathrooms are shared which I was concerned about but they were spotlessly clean. It wasn't busy while we were there so not sure how it would be if they were fully booked. Wonderful stay thank you!

The location was perfect. The hosts were friendly. The studio room had all we required for our stay. It was great to have the option of real coffee supplied for the coffee press. We had dinner Coriander, Indian restaurant, which was great. There were other recommended restaurants as well. We like the bakery and visited the Fresh Choice and a few other shops. We were in Sumner for a wedding, but it is a nice spot for a few days getaway.

What an absolute gem of a place. Quirky yet so well configured. You don't lose comfort because it's fun and interesting. The bed was top notch with lovely bedding, multiple pillows, fabulous little kitchen with everything you could need in the drawers. It's a place we'll remember.

Beautiful historical home with lovely hosts. Both Sharon and Noel were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The house was decorated really nicely. The living room and breakfast rooms downstairs were filled with interesting art, objects, furniture. The owners invite everyone for wine at 6pm which was lovely and all the guests very friendly so was interesting to hear about their travels. Bedroom was nicely furnished and decorated and the bathroom had a heated floor.

The property consists of 2 apartments. We had the Penthouse on top of the building. It had amazing views over Akaroa Harbour. The property is an easy 20min walk along the waterfront to the centre of Akaroa where there are many dining venues. "The Common" was frequented by us a lot during our stay!

Akaroa is a friendly little place.

Akaroa is a friendly little place. Everyone we spoke to was happy to have a chat and tell you about the best things to do in their town. We went up to the Hinewai reserve where a small group of very dedicated people are regenerating an area of natural bush. There are lovely walk ways through it, full of bird life. This was our favourite part of the trip. There are some lovely places to eat, including the waffle house/hard ware store where we had a great waffle and lovely coffee surrounded by packets of fastenings of all shapes and sizes and a good range of swandri clothing.

Good value for money for a large group on a self drive holiday. Enjoy a lovely stay far removed from the city landscape. Not within walking distance from amenities like cafe / restaurant / super market etc.

Great motel and location not to far from the Ferry at Diamond Harbour. Cafe and Brewery, supermarket and petrol near by. Stunning scenery. Great for quieter travellers wanting a peaceful location and a love of nature. Lovely walks and little bays and beaches to visit. About 7 minutes by Ferry you can visit Lyttleton and they have a market there on a Saturday morning. The motel was very new, clean and beautifully presented with lovely views. The owners were lovely and very friendly. It was a dog friendly motel so I took my small dog who is part of the family. This motel was spotlessly clean and a pleasure to stay at. I will stay again in the future. We ate at the cafe which is near by and also at the Brewery about a 4 minute drive to get to or a 20 minute walk away.

Akaroa has incredible scenery, history, artisan food businesses, spoilt for choice of eateries and activities with welcoming, friendly business owners who offer services with pride and courtesy...and oooo la la the A La Baguette almond croissants are 'to die for'. Loved the Akaroa Dolphin Cruise and seeing the Hectar dolphins up close! Akaroa is a must-do destination.

A very lovely place, the locals are super friendly and have time to chat. We did a boat trip to see the dolphins and went out to dinner at the Madeira Hotel. The shops are very quaint with lovely gifts and not too expensive. The waterfront is stunningly beautiful (we were lucky with the weather) and the water sparkled every day. I also recommend going to Takapuneke Reserve, a cultural landmark up on the hill on Onuku Road, it’s a special place and very unique. Thank you to everyone who made our stay so memorable.
