LithuaniaI cannot recommend this place enough. An absolute must if you are passing through. We were greeted by the two lovely bartenders in what I can only describe as an old school saloon vibe, with locals sitting outside, drinking and conversing. It truly made us feel like being part of the village. Lovely rooms, comfy beds, simple, but tasty breakfast. This is an absolute gem.

United StatesThe check in is at the bar or you can go around to a proper entrance to the hotel. There were a lot of people travelling for work (trades/construction) but we were able to find a parking spot. We walked to Monteith's Brewery from the hotel and had some beers.

Great place to stay! The bed was really comfortable, and our room had a spa bath, which was fantastic! Great air conditioning, comfy pillows, good sized towels, and right across the road from the local pub. The breakfast left in our room each night was great too. Toast, fruit, yoghurt, cereal. More than enough. It was one of the nicer motels I've stayed in.

Large room with kitchenette was very comfortable. Short walking distance to a good restaurant and bar. Grocery store is a couple of blocks away. Parking in front of our room door. Very friendly and helpful host!

I like grey mouth lots of history .easy to get around to walk or bike .the sea they call the tip was just a thrill to watch . A must to see . Good food . Lots of places not to far to visit . Worth coming in winter .catchvthe shuttle through the mountains was the best feeling to see .fantastic beaches to watch or walk . Even might find a green stone on the sand .mining town . A great spot for a long weekend getaway, especially in summer. Lots of walks, bike trails and boat access. Lots of birdlife. Beautiful, quiet and peaceful. Family friendly restaurant. Book in advance as accommodation is limited.

A quaint little NZ town with loads of history.
A quaint little NZ town with loads of history. Food at the Blackball Inn was really good with a good menu. Blackball Hilton (the historic hotel) was also a great stop for a drink, locals were really welcoming and the building is just beautiful. Highly recommend to stay for the night here prior to the Paparoa Track, or just a visit. Lots of history to explore all around town.

Barrytown itself is very small but it is about 10 minutes...
Barrytown itself is very small but it is about 10 minutes from Punakaiki which is spectacular. This was a strategic place for a group of four (two couples) to stay. But you will need to bring food items go to the Punakaiki hotel. The coast road is beautiful on a good day. Remember to fill up on fuel as Greymouth is 25 mins away. Forest Edge is lovely.

Loved having the bar so close to the accomodation! Very friendly west coast bar. Bar manager/owner was very helpful and friendly. Bed was so comfortable and room clean. Breakfast was help yourself from a big range of options - plenty of choice. Location is 10km north of Greymouth in a mining town with working coal mines around. Great beach 3k up the road with a mining machine displayed. Great sunsets too. Pub pizza and meals available.

I visited Hokitika, It was pleasant and well planned and lively with lot of cafes by the beach. But Greymouth was sleepy, unplanned and forlorn with little activity and crowd. We stayed there because of the transalpine last stop. A suggestion is go further and stay in Hokitika.

The staff were very friendly and chatty. The cleaner told us we didn't have to move out of room fast as she got other rooms to do. 👍🏻Also the cleaner answered my questions about area. Population at school etc. I would totally recommend this place. 👍🏻

This place has loads of character.
This place has loads of character. We enjoyed our stay it was quiet and peaceful. The showers were great everything was clean. There’s a little kitchen to make tea and put some food in the fridge. The meals were really good. The rooms are pretty small but nice and warm.
Blackball is a quiet little town with a nice vibe

Hot tub was at the top of the hill didn't use it was very wet when we got there but looked nice.
Breakfast was in the fridge when we git there heater was on house was warm.
Recommend this wfi didn't work TV didn't connect weather was bad but it was good we didn't need to use technology.

The Pounamu Pathway in downtown Greymouth offers a look into...
The Pounamu Pathway in downtown Greymouth offers a look into the original settlement of the west coast by the Māori. Seven Penny, just a block away, makes an eggs Benedict that will make your taste buds want to dance, and their coffees are a treat.
Best place for greenstone is Hokitika, about 30 minutes south, although you'll see it offered everywhere along the west coast.
Allow plenty of time if traveling south along the west coast! We drove from Greymouth to Haast with several stops and wish we had done that distance in 2 days to allow more time to stop and soak up scenery.
