United StatesWe have stayed at this hotel many times. It is the only hotel we stay at when we drive through this area. This is such an upscale boutique hotel at an extremely reasonable cost, in a quiet, scenic river setting. The rooms and beds are comfortable and 5 star. We love that even as upscale as this hotel is, they are dog friendly! The balconies are beautiful..I highly recommend the deluxe balcony. The breakfast is amazing, fresh fruits, fresh orange juice, delicious homebaked pastries. The best part of the hotel is the staff. The personal attention they give the guests is another main reason why we keep coming back.

I was so happy to visit this region of Portugal. The highlands. I came to ski.
And Luna Hotel Serra da Estrela was my Home Base.
The hotel was lovely, and the staff were fantastic!
The first shift Receptionist Tuesday morning was Super Helpful and lovely! Can you thank her for me? (I didn’t get her name unfortunately…)
Also, a special thank you to Luis.
We had dinner at the Restaurant Medieval.
And it was Wonderful!!!
Great, friendly staff, and excellent food…

The hotel was absolutely beautiful. I really loved the way they displayed the historic elements of wool into the decor. The pool area was lovely. We had a nice quiet room. The breakfast was plentiful and had lots to choose from. Staff was wonderful. Large parking lots of spots. We took an UBER into the old part of the city for dinner and it was only about 5€. Free bottle of water in our room was a nice touch.

Covilhã is a wonderful place to stay, the gateway to nature trails and stunning landscapes. Nature lovers should keep away from Torre Serra da Estrela and discover the raw beauty of this huge natural park!

Fundao is a nice place.
Fundao is a nice place. I hope others do not have to go as I did though as I purchased land online from a YouTube channel and have found out it was misrepresented and the price was three times what it should have been. So I am going to have to return to Fundao quite a few times most of the people I met were lovely. Just be very wary of unlicensed YouTube property agents and solicitors they attempt to direct you to.

Pleasant and interesting small city.
Pleasant and interesting small city. Nice cathedral, interesting Museu Francisco Tavares Proença Jr. and a really beautiful and unusual Jardim do Paço Episcopal. The old town, with its steep little alleys, leading up to the castelo is fun to explore.

It was an amazing place steeped in history!
It was an amazing place steeped in history! The walk to the castle is a must as there are beautiful views at every turn. You will find yourself awestruck trying to fathom how it was possible to create a town amongst the boulders. It’s truly an amazing and magical place.

Paul has fantastic conditions by its location/views of the mountain and a very nice small river, however needs further improvement to fully exploit such advantage. The park at the riverside lacks trails to be able to fully profit from the location. Adequate signaling is missing in the village.

Unhais da Serra is a very small town. It has one outstanding restaurant - As Thermas and another couple of ones that are good options as well. A couple of local shops that carry the delicious cheeses, charcuterie and liquors made in Serra da Estrela. We always stop to replenish or stock - we prefer the tiny mini-market, but the fancier shop has sweatshirts, slippers and interesting items as well.
It's the perfect get-away for rest and relaxation. We park the car at the H2otel and do walking to everywhere we need to go over the weekend. I'd say a 3-4 night stay is ideal.
