Patong Beach

One of 8,667 reviews:
"An exceptional hotel that exceeded all our expectations. We would definitely stay here again. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and always willing to help with anything we needed. Their hospitality made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The rooms were spotless, comfortable, and maintained with great attention to every detail. Everything was clean and well cared for. The location is perfect, just a short walk from both the beach and the town center, making it easy to enjoy everything the area has to offer. The breakfast was excellent, with a wide variety of fresh and delicious options. We highly recommend this hotel and would gladly return on our next visit."

One of 2,611 reviews:
"Chaweng is a bustling town with some fantastic restaurants offering the most fresh and beautifully presented Thai, and other nationality food you you could want. We stayed 14 nights and ate somewhere and something different each night - all cheaper than McDonalds! Happy hour at any of the many bars and clubs is whatever hour you are there, which makes for a perfectly priced night out!"

"Ao Nang is a must if you are visiting Krabi; it's also the city from where you can get to other amazing spots like Railay o Hong Islands. The people are wonderful, super friendly, and there are lots of places to eat or buy things. You can walk on the beach till you reach the Monkey trail, which takes you to a "hidden beach" (BEAUTIFUL). You can go to Dragon Crest (great for those who love hiking), or you can just chill in Ao Nang's beach, and watch extraordinary sunsets everyday :)"

"Phuket is good and Old Phuket Town is wonderful. Wandering around and taking in the culture and history that can be seen in the shops and buildings was delightful. Thoroughly recommend it. And many choices in great places to eat. 2Rooms boutique hotel is right in the centre of it and a great place to stay."

Hat Yai

Shopping, Street Food & Markets, Budget Friendly
373 hotels
One of 788 reviews:
"Hat Yai is not pedestrian friendly, so walking about can be its own adventure with whizzing bikes/cars on narrow lanes. Weather is also not conducive for outdoor activity during the daytime, but night time weather is great (when it's not raining). The tuktuk are touts where you have to nego a rate as long as you're not a local - unlike Chiangmai where you can just jump on/off for standard rates. Best to take Grab if your group is small, honestly. Most markets are over-rated; fashion wise are more for short/tiny/skinny women; more options for men. Central Mall is awesome because it has two THB10 shops, which made this place cheaper than their markets! Their food court is also extensive, and cheaper than/comparable to eating at the markets too. Massage centre galour in the central Hat Yai town where plenty of massage outlets are located - I recommend Sense Massage Odean for those who prefer deep tissue technique."

One of 3,520 reviews:
"The five hour tour and I forget its name, which included, Maya Beach, The lagoon and Monkey island for 400 baht was exceptional value ! you do pay 400 for the national Park which is still a deal. The THAI people enter for 40 B that is good Watching the sunset, the snorkeling and the electrolyte or lighted algae in the nighttime swim was amazing 😻; watching them underwater with our snorkel gear on, was a highlight I would highly recommend this trip, AND Please do not be scared about the nighttime watcher you are never more than a few feet away from the boat there is always someone close and you just basically need to go 6 inches under the water wave your hands around and it lights up with millions of flashlight like Algae 😈 😆 LOVED it I had done this before although it was in CAMBODIA**** and you waded into the water so this is quite different and much more of a tactile experience on Phi Phi *** So many great food choices and restaurants and great for all budgets"

"We came here to have a relaxing week during National Week in October. My husband and daughter had some of the best scuba diving experiences and they would definitely love to go back and do more dives (yet there are so many other places to go and see....). We stayed in the southeast for the first part of the trip, and found that to be a bit secluded - great resort, but a little too isolated and cut off for us overall. The second half we stayed in Sairee Beach area and it was amazing! So much going on and great restaurants and sunset views at your fingertips. We had wanted to rent scooters to explore the island more, but after seeing the condition of the roads (very steep and sharp turns), and so many people with "Thailand tattoos" from road rash, we decided against it, so we didn't get to see as much as we'd hoped. Maybe next time...."

One of 2,027 reviews:
"One of the best places we have ever stayed - we will return. T Always fresh and huge selections. As an older couple we loved Karon Beach - it had just the right amount of shops and varied restaurants for us and sight seeing / attractions easy to get to. The hotel staff at Beyond Karon were outstanding - always willing to help with transport and other needs. The location, food - at breakfast and at the restaurant - was amazing. We went to Elephant Trail@Elephant Beach - Highly recommend it - the best day ever. Tiger Park was also another great day. One of our last nights was spent on a Sunset dinner cruise. Wonderful food, staff and sunset views. Taxis are the way to travel and easy to get."

One of 1,513 reviews:
"I loved Nai Yang Beach, it's a lot less crowded and touristy than other places in Phuket. It was the perfect place to end my trip (close to airport as well). I spent my days swimming, reading, sleeping and eating. The beach is not super crowded, and its typically possible to get a beach chair. I would recommend eating at the good view restaurant at sunset :) The beach also looks much nicer, and is better for a swim in the morning for high tide."

A resort that floats on a quiet lake. It is as luxurious as can be for such a rustic setting (e.g., lukewarm shower water). The moto is "disconnect to reconnect". No real wi fi. But you have your own kayak to tour the lake and you can join hotel excursions (free and paid). There are also various activities at the hotel; we learned to make Thai tea and dessert. If you are looking for the opposite of the busy Phuket-style resort, connecting to others in your party and to nature, this might be the place for you. If you are lucky, you will see many birds, some moneys, and (if you are very lucky) a wild elephant.

Everything. We stayed one night at Sivalai because the room at the orher resort where we were staying had problems. unfortunately it was already prepaid otherwise we would have moved to Sivalai. Sivalai's beach is the only really clean beach in the area. We were shocked at how much rubbish is lying everywhere else. The rooms are not the newest but they're extremely well maintained and sparkling clean. The food at the restaurant is good and reasonable priced. it was really a bliss the night we stayed there.

Very clean and comfortable room with good wifi, air conditioner and fridge. My private double bed room offered big comfortable bed. The bathroom attached was clean and shower temperature customizable. Place to hang clothes in room to dry. Great location near to beach, national park, local restaurants, 7/11, local fruit stand, and local market. Stayed here for about a week, given refreshed towels. Room cleaning optional/available.

The location is unreal. Specially for a room right on the water it is bliss. You can watch the sunset from your balcony. You can swim off the rocks in the front of the hotel but I recommend wearing reef shoes. The water is beautiful. I loved my stay and can not recommend it enough. Plus it is such great value for money please don’t ever change.

Koh Tao is all about the diving and snorkelling. The island is very 'Westernised'. Most restaurants seem to offer Western foods , all menus in English - pizza and burgers everywhere. Koh Tao is very tourist centric - and does not feel very Thai! We enjoyed our time there (3 days), but are unlikely to return there.

This was our 3rd time at Patong, and we said we would never go back - but a trip with our friends was too tempting. Our hotel was a bit off the main drag, so it was quieter - with a free shuttle bus into town. We could still visit our favourite massage places, bars and restaurants. Lots of familiar faces as the locals are the same. Definitely look into booking tours around Phuket while you are there. Massage - we recommend Tong Fa - on the street under the Patong Tower. Restaurant - Patong Sunset View Restaurant is a must - great value for fab food, and great views. Take a taxi, or GRAB. Lunch - the food in Tropica and Kans Haus was tasty, and both very near Bangla Rd on Beach Rd.

Great Crew & Hospitality (But the tour was shortened) Overall, it was a pleasant trip. The hospitality onboard was great, and the crew members were extremely friendly and helpful—special thanks to them! Also, the provided meal was surprisingly good and enjoyable. The only downside: Shortened Duration: The tour was scheduled to be 6 to 7 hours long, but they cut it short to only 4 hours. This was disappointing as we expected to get the full duration we paid for.

Bophut is a beautiful place - not as lovely as some of Thailands islands but still bustling. The lookout points are breathtaking and lined with stunning beach cafes and restaurants. Would highly recommend going to visit the temples and Buddha. If you’re going to see the elephants - recommend Samui elephant sanctuary as it genuinely exhibited and felt ethical and the staff are amazing. Fisherman’s village market runs on specific days so check before you go. We went on a Friday (the most busy night) but it was pleasant busy and great for vibes and picking up souvenirs. The traders are open to haggling, just go in with a figure max in mind and be respectful of course! We loved Bophut - 10/10

We loved this resort: it is a tropical paradise.

We loved this resort: it is a tropical paradise. While the beach is wonderful to walk on and gaze at, we found the gorgeous garden a real attraction. Unlike other resorts, Moracea is not set in a series of manicured lawns and some trees, it is nestled in a beautiful, lush and verdant garden which hosts many birds and other wildlife. The resort really makes good on its promise to care far the environment and takes measures to guarantee that the offerings have a minimal environmental impact. Toiletries are good quality and are in bottles that are refilled, fresh drinking water is provided on rooms and other places in order to minimise use of plastic. The staff were wonderful: reception staff were always keen to help us with a range of questions, the restaurant staff were efficient, friendly and welcoming, and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. The breakfast room on the beach was terrific: food was fresh, of good quality and well organised. There are a several good local restaurants in easy walking distance, or a taxi into the main Khao Lak area was around $4 AUD. The only drawback might be the fact that it is on a hill, but we managed it (we are in our 70's and average fitness). The resort staff are aware of this potential issue and organised a lift for people to and from their rooms if needed. I highly recommend this place. Khao Lak itself is a lovely, sleepy, friendly place to pass some time and Moracea by Khao Lak is the perfect place to stay

We went all over Samui on our stay and this was one of our favorites. You get to experience the local side but it also caters for tourists. More rustic than places like Lamai and we loved it. Haad Rin is one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever visited. The beach is long, with soft white sand and crystal-clear water. The sea has a sandy bottom with no sharp rocks, making it perfect for swimming and relaxing. What I love most is that Haad Rin has something for everyone. Whether you’re looking for an unforgettable Full Moon Party, a quieter night out, or simply a peaceful beach escape, you’ll find it here. The locals and travelers are friendly, creating a welcoming atmosphere. If you’re visiting during the Full Moon Party, just use the hostel lockers for your valuables, keep your wallet secure, and drink responsibly. As long as you know your limits and stay aware of your surroundings, it’s a fun and safe experience. The hostel staff are always ready to help if you need anything, which made me feel even more comfortable throughout my stay. Overall, Haad Rin exceeded my expectations, and I would definitely come back again.
