"I thought the unit as beautiful. All of the bathrooms and also the Kitchen had beautiful granite counters. The beds were very comfortable and the linen was soft. It has an in- unit washer and dryer which I love to have on vacation. The parking was close to the unit and also having Safeway Market right across the street was a bonus."

Koloa

Tropical beach, Beach Resort Area, Old Town

One of 151 reviews:
"We had a great stay in the Koloa area and would highly recommend it if you are visiting Kauai. Poipu Beach is a great place to spend a day relaxing, but there are other activities close by if that is your inclination. We had a great tour of the Na Pali coast on a sail/snorkel cruise with Capt. Andy's Boat Tours, and were also in close driving distance to towns of Hanapepe and Waimea for local color on the southern and western parts of the island. The Allerton and McBryde Botanical Gardens was also worth the visit. A bit of a longer drive is to the Polihale State Park to a most beautiful and isolated golden sand beach - the last 4 miles or so are on a bit of a bumpy dirt road that keeps the crowds down, but well worth the visit. There are many dining choices in the Koloa area - we enjoyed Keoka's Paradise in the Poipu Shopping Village and Brennecke's at Poipu Beach for casual dining, and there were many other choices at the resorts in the area. Finally, if you like to snorkel, Lawai Beach is the place to go for the variety of fish. The shore is a bit rocky so it is a little bit of effort to get it, but once in the water it had the best snorkeling on the island, including the beaches on the northern part of the island."

"Princeville is in a great location elevated with wonderful ocean and mountain views. Just a couple of miles to historic, iconic Hanalei and more amazing views. It can be raining during some parts of the year, but the views are always amazing. It is a little far from Kapaa, Lihue, Walmart and major shopping, but there is a Foodland grocery nearby and more in Hanalei. This location is for relaxing and enjoying the beauty of tropical Hawaii. There are nice sidewalks for walking, golf courses and restaurants. Lots of condos, houses, and apartments to rent. Highly recommend getting away from it all and relaxing here."

Clean, attractive comfortable accommodations and facilities. Courteous hosts, and housing staff. My wife said this was the most comfortable bed she ever slept in. The main swimming pool was exceptionally nice and my wife could do her exercise walking very easily.

This was a beautiful, comfortable resort in a great location! A full kitchen was a great amenity, and the layout of the rooms was great. I loved staying on the east side of the island so I could get up every morning and walk along the beach basking in the beautiful paradise sunrises. Honestly this resort is one of the nicer places to stay, and the value was wonderful. There's even a cute little market across the parking lot with lots of shops and eateries. It's central to driving anywhere on the island, and it's well kept.

The staff were very warm, attentive, and provided thoughtful service. The room was clean, comfortable, and well maintained, and the surrounding environment was beautiful, peaceful, and relaxing. In the evenings, I could even hear the sound of the ocean outside the window, which made the stay especially enjoyable.

It's across the street from Safeway and an ABC store, and right in the middle of everything we wanted to see on the island. Shout out to James for the awesome koi stories!

Kapaa is a small town with lots of shops of different types and a few restaurants. It is also on a long bike path along the coast all the way up to Donkey Beach, which is well worth cycling or walking. It is quite close to the Lihue airport and also a good starting point for visiting the east and north of the island with great beaches and the Ha'ena State Park.

Kapaa bike trail is a must do.

Kapaa bike trail is a must do. About 10 miles round trip, flat, coastal views. 1 of top 10 in the US. (See Ke Ala Hele Makalae Bike Path) I’m not a golfer but several courses in the area. Nice shopping area near where we stayed (Kauai Waikomo Stream) with some top dining options and coffee shops. Check out Eden Coffee truck. Ate at Merrimack happy hour(4-6pm) in the shopping center walkable from Waikomo Stream Condos. Accessible beach parking at Sheraton Kauai Coconut Beach Resort, Take a dip there after returning bike rental

Love Kauai and Lihue is great.

Love Kauai and Lihue is great. It always feels like it’s on the verge of renovation and revival, particularly in the Art Deco downtown. But unfortunately there just doesn’t seem to be enough draw and the attraction of d=shopping on the outskirts hurts this potential.

The Hanalei area is the opposite of a commercial resort style town. The businesses are small, mainly local. Tons of charm, beautiful beach. If you’re looking for nightlife, this might not be the right area for you. For local charm, it’s great.

Don't bother, so many more options available.

Don't bother, so many more options available. If you want to see some original cottages, just drive by. Many locals stay there for parties with lots of people in one cottage - they receive nice discounts but do like to stay up late! I would not go to Hawaii to swim in a pool but saw many people use theirs. The beach was poor so no one was on it since you cannot swim. They could have supplied bikes - that would have been a bonus. The distance to everything except Waimea Canyon is far but if you are planning on hiking the canyon daily it is your second best option (the first being cabins 1/2 way up the mountain). You need a car since there is only one restaurant near by and the kitchen facilities are poor. Hiking was great - would have been nice to stay where we could rent a paddle board or surfboards / boogie boards. Def. take a helicopter ride and see the Napili Coast line from the water!

OK in a pinch for a 1 nighter near airport.

OK in a pinch for a 1 nighter near airport. Late check in very awkward at best. Let them know late check in needed when making reservations and again a couple days out because of flight. Still, last minute received a message that was sent while on our flight and not accessible until we landed needing more information+credit card info again for "incidentals" (Not sure what they were, place was pretty basic). And the Office was closed (1 hour earlier than posted) and had to go through answering service. Needless to say caused something short of panic of where we'd lay our heads. Accommodations something close to a Motel 6 in the Mainland. Worth maybe $150 not $200++. Room not cleaned, Pizza box and full garbage left behind. Linens questionable.

Lush greenery because it constantly rains.

Lush greenery because it constantly rains. And don't get me started on the chickens, it's a novelty at first glance but roosters right outside the condo crowing at 4:30 am isn't fun anytime. This place has sparse sit down eating establishments close by, they take pride in food trucks that also litter the island. If you've been to other islands, you were spoiled by the beaches. Don't expect that here, minimum hour drive to safe family beaches. Even there, expect rain.
