United StatesI cannot say enough about this lodge. I had an issue at the border crossing, and was forced to stay in Lephalale while waiting for a new passport to arrive. This lodge, and the staff became like family to us over the week we stayed with them. They were incredibly kind, attentive, and provided comfort to us during a stressful time. I wish I could remember all the staff member's names, but a shoutout to Anton and to McDonald for making us feel so welcome. The rooms are comfortable, large and spotlessly clean. We stayed in a few different rooms while we were there, and each room was wonderful. The grounds are beautiful and the pool sparkling clean. We enjoyed the resident impala as well.

Staff are extremely accommodating, Jason and the full team run by the GM are always ready to assist you! Food is delish, you can taste the care in each dish. Air conditioned rooms with fridge and tv, perfect. Entertainment Room/Bar, customized sunset dinners on the deck, Pools with water toys and romantic Tickle Tubs. We extended our stay, so glad we did. Well thought out venue, will definitely be back!

We loved our room and the dining room food was amazing and all the staff were very friendly and attentive and very accomdating we had a wonderful stay and we had 2 toddlers in our group and they could join with everything so the parents had such a good time as well.

I went to Bela Bela to continue my memory trip . I remembered Warmbaths 25 years ago, and was so disappointed. The streets were dirty, the pavements broken, the little town full of load music
I will definitely not go there again.

We visit Mabula Game Lodge every year and always look forward to it. The chalets have amazing views, the staff and rangers are fantastic, and the game drives are always informative and enjoyable. We also really appreciate their conservation efforts — one of the main reasons we keep coming back.

Thabazimbi is a beautiful place, it was my first time visiting there and my stay was very short, I will definitely visit again to explore it more.

Our first family trip was beautiful and we did notice after booking that it’s not a self catering accommodation but a braai area for such a place will make the stay even more worthwhile. I didn’t like the beds we slept on they were just uncomfortable.

Although the websites all say this is a Big Five Game...
Although the websites all say this is a Big Five Game Reserve, what they don't tell you is that there are very few animals in the park. We went on eight game drives and saw very little each time. There are only three lions in the whole reserve so you don't really have a chance of seeing them. Leopards - Game Ranger just said "they need to find you". Elephant herds a no show. Rhinos are at least in abundance. Just not worth the travel, you can rather go to the Pilanesberg to see more animals.

We visited Mokopane for a friend's wedding, so our trip wasn't really about sightseeing or activities — it was about celebrating, and then taking the opportunity to slow down and recharge before heading back home on the Monday.
One thing worth knowing if you're driving up: the roadworks along the way can significantly stretch your travel time. What should be roughly a 3-hour drive turned into close to 5 hours due to traffic caused by the construction, so factor that in when planning your departure time.
That said, once we arrived, it was exactly the kind of environment you need after a long drive. Quiet, peaceful, and unhurried. Since the accommodation had basic cooking essentials available, we simply popped into town, grabbed groceries, and cooked for ourselves — which was a lovely, relaxed way to do meals. And the convenience of town being so close by genuinely made everything easier. No long drives for supplies, no stress — just simplicity.
We weren't there to explore or fill our itinerary, and honestly, we didn't need to. Sometimes the best trips are the ones where you simply get to breathe, rest, and reset before real life kicks back in.
If you're heading to Mokopane for a similar reason — a wedding, a family gathering, or just a slow weekend away — you'll find it suits that pace beautifully.
