Romantic Hotels in Hakone

My family really loved this hotel. It's really close to the train station, which was very convinient to us and the facilities were very good. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and the staff was very nice and profesional. We really enjoyed the onsen and the breakfast that was provided was very complete and diverse. I'll definitely stay a bit longer next time I travel to Hakone.

This was one of the best hotels we stayed at. The service, the food, the room and the location were top notch! We booked the room with a private onsen and we loved it! The room was very comfortable and everything was new and in very good condition! We had breakfast and dinner included, which is highly recommended and necessary since there is nothing nearby to eat. The buffet offered a very good variety and a good mix between western and oriental food. Everything was very tasty and of very good quality! Regarding the facilities, we did not try the public onsen since we had the private one in the room but it was very comfortable and with water from real hot springs! The location is very good, you can easily access everything there is to do in Hakone! (It is necessary to book a transfer with the hotel itself to get there from the main train station, since it is somewhat complicated to get there by public transport)

We booked ‘room with private onsen room selected upon check in’ and we got a room with our own private open air onsen bath. Had an amazing romantic couple of nights with my wife Our rate included traditional kaiseki dinner each night which was amazing and was served right in our room The staff were incredibly kind and helpful- other reviews mention ‘invasion of privacy’ however they were very polite and would knock or prearrange before coming into the room Traditional style ryokan in an onsen town- very well kept tatami rooms

Amazing location, beautiful room and sightings

Wow this ryokan was an incredible experience. We really enjoyed our stay. The staff was so friendly. The onsen were so nice to just go into after day exploring Hakone. You could walk to the Open Air Museum and the cable car to the sulphur springs were only a couple minutes walk away! The breakfast and dinner were unbelievable. I just loved being able to dress in our samues and kimonos that they offered at the hotel and eat an unbelievably special meal.

Everything! It was spectacular! The rooms were beautiful Japanese style. The onsens were incredible, especially the outside ones. Our package included dinner and breakfast. The dinner was HUGE and delicious! Breakfast was great… Japanese style with some cereal options. Cute Yukatas in all sizes… even for the kids. The relaxation area was great… especially the free massage chairs.

The private onsen was great, the stuff was friendly and helpful, you can see that they try to continuously improve the guest’s experience.

The house is located near a spring, hearing the spring sound all day feeling so relax.

Fantastic hosts, so friendly and helpful. Love this hotel and we will be coming back again. 15 minute walk away from the glass museum and 5 minutes from 7/11 and bus stop to get around. Great place to stay!

1. The location. Very close to the bus stop to go to Hakone Yumoto or Odawara station and other tourist attractions such as Togendai, The Glass Museum, Lalique museum, Choanji and Sengokuhara Plateau. 2. This guesthouse embodies perfectly the essence of Japan. Everything (even the small details) is connected with Japanese culture: the tatami rooms, the curtains for the toilets, the seasonal decoration (New Year decoration in our case!) and the small ikebana arrengements :D. Even the toilets had a refreshing scent! 3. The futon is so confortable. We sleep amazingly well and we were woken up by the chirping of the birds :D. 4. The host is so nice. You can really tell that she puts a lot of effort in making everything perfect and taking care of all guests :D 5. The onsen! It is absolutely gorgeous and its water is milky white which makes it very special (you may not find this in other prefectures) :D. It is possible to choose between an outdoor onsen (separate fee required) and an indoor onsen (free). This is not really criticism because we found everything amazing, but I think it would be a good idea to have more outdoor lights as the way in is a little bit dark at night. Other than that we would love to stay here again! Thank you so much! :D

The hotel onsens (especially the outdoor one) were amazing. Was a little skeptical to book at first as I wasn't really comfortable being naked in front of strangers, but every time I went to bathe there were no other guests at all! I guess because the hotel only had 13 rooms and maybe only half the rooms were occupied when we stayed. If you're like me and the onsens are occupied, you can opt to go to Yunessun (hot spring theme park) which is only a 3-minute walk away and enjoy your onsens while wearing a swimsuit! The hotel provides free tickets for each day of hotel stay including on the day you check in. So this means you can spend the day at the theme park while waiting for check in time at 3pm. The hotel room was VERY spacious and comfortable. The pictures they uploaded here simply does not do it justice. I reckon it could've fit around 5 people, but we were only a group of 3. I also loved how accommodating the receptionist was and how considerate of them to confirm our allergies and religious restrictions prior to preparing our breakfast.

The location was great as it was near the ropeway and the train.

The staff was super friendly and the place was very cozy, we had a great stay, the garden was beautiful and the rooms where very spacious.

Breakfast was great. We were able to have dinner there as an add on, and the meal was amazing.

We arrived before the check-in time and the staff person (lovely old man) greeted us nicely, spoke decent English and was very accommodating. He arranged for our luggage to be moved into our room when ready and gave us forms to fill out about our dietary requirements, preferred meal times and heights for our yukatas. Afterwards he gave us a map of Hakone and showed us the nearest train station (6 min walk) and bus stop (2 min walk), the recommended sightseeing areas/attractions and transport modes/routes to use with the Hakone Freepass. We returned later in the afternoon to check-in and was shown around the main facilities of the ryokan (bathrooms and private/publics spas) and how to book a spa timeslot. Our room attendant showed us our room and supplies/amenities/equipment and how to use them. She explained how to correctly wear the yukata and bathing etiquette in the spas. During meal times, she also explained what the dishes and ingredients were and how to eat the food. Although the room attendants spoke limited English, they were able to effectively communicate to us and other guests at the ryokan. They spoke Japanese into Google Translate and the app spoke back the translation into our preferred language. Since we also spoke limited Japanese, we were actually able to converse with our room attendant and have a more meaningful interaction. The staff provided exceptional service and made the trip memorable. The quadruple room we stayed in was spacious, beautiful and clean. The staff prepared our futons to sleep in, gave us fresh towels and yukatas to wear and made sure we were comfortable. The food we had for dinner and breakfast tasted fresh and delicious. We also ordered sake and umeshu to complement our meals. We would love to stay at Fukuzumiro again in the future.

Perfect place, calm and peaceful. Nice onsen and great food for dinner. Well served and tasty. The rooms are so clean and tidy.

The room is big and as appeared in the booking pictures. Amenities were plenty. Staffs were super friendly and they tried their best with communication even they don't speak English. Location was in walking distance from train station without baggage. Not difficult to find when driving.

Everything, the dinner is extremely good, and the outdoor private onsen is supreme

A truly excellent place. The staff were very welcoming, very patient showing us the main dinner option and helping to reserve one of their private baths to use. Loved taking our shoes off and walking on the tatami mats. The room was incredible, had the main bedroom another sitting room and then the outdoor bath. Very clean and very relaxing. Yukata had been laid out for us, which was very fun to wear. The dinner was exceptional, and the lady who served (and had made) it took time to explain what everything was. We had some sake at the bar before bed and the futons were very comfortable. Breakfast the next morning was great again and the man at reception very kindly drove us to the train station, nothing was too much trouble. A wonderful experience, wish we had been able to stay longer and try more of the other baths and longer in the massage chairs.

Staff were very accommodating. Kaiseki dinners were great, with the kitchen staff explaining everything perfectly. Onsens (both private and public) were great, with complimentary refreshments being a great bonus (coffee milk, yakult, ice cream). Massages were incredibly rejuvenating, and easily booked via the front-desk. Shuttle bus from the ryokan to the station was incredibly convenient.

We had a beautiful view of Mt Fuji from our deck. Beds were also very comfortable. The buffet was awesome.

While the buildings themselves are beautiful and I loved the outside onsen, it was the staff who made staying here truly exceptional experience. They were like a thought - whenever I wondered where should I go next, or that I wanted to put a used plate to the side, they just appeared and helped and did exactly what was needed. We also had a tricky food restriction (gluten free) and yet they were able to accommodate us which is unheard of in Japan. Thank you to all staff for their hard work!

Luxurious hotel surrounded by beautiful nature. Nice and helpful staff. Good breakfast selection. Very convenient shuttle bus service. When we missed the last shuttle bus from Motohakone to the hotel, the staff kindly organised a car for us at no charge.

Stunning property from the lobby, room balcony views, onsen and location. I felt like I was a princess in a castle!
