Rooms in Tanabe

It sits right on the harbor at Kii Tanabe. Spectacular sunsets and sunrises. Great onsen waters. Hotel chefs accommodated my need to be gluten free perfectly despite how difficult it is with Japanese food. That kindness will always be appreciated. Great staff!

Onsen was very nice! I liked the beds, comfy with cotton sheets although pillows and comforters seemed to be polyester, the sheets were very nice! The staff is very kind, and they helped provide me glasses and hot water to brew my own coffee!

So much space for the price. It’s right in front of the beach for an amazing view. The host was super accommodating. He helped me make restaurant reservations (which you 100% need as restaurants fill up quick), gave me recommendations for what to do on the island and he even provided a bike so I can travel the island in a unique way. After visiting Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka, this hotel was the perfect place to recharge from the chaos of the city. I can’t recommend it enough.

The hotel was a fun experience. It is a traditional ryokan and onsen. We did feel slightly out of place with being one of only a few foreigners, but everyone was nice and accommodating. The food was delicious and the atmosphere majestic.

I liked the security features at this hotel. It made me feel very safe as a solo traveler. The bed was very comfortable.

Good place for those plan for Kumano Kodo hike....

The host was very accommodating when I arrived a lot later than planned, which I really appreciate. The beds were comfy, facilities all clean and new. Would definitely stay again

Unrelentingly friendly staff, great convenient location

Location for kumano kodo is great, theres some restaurants and cafes right in front of the hotel plus a supermarket. sadly they close at 5 pm so get your stuff early.

Lovely place to stay before starting the Kumano with a very kind host

Very convenient stop along the Kumano-Kodo route. We brought our own food for dinner and the host set up a nice table outside for us. Everything was very clean and the host is really nice.

Super cute little place, absolutely LOVED that I had a whole room to myself! Great location, just a couple minute walk to station, the beach, and a family mart. Super happy they had laundry machines on-site, and the host was very kind and helpful and had lots of information in English! Overall it was the perfect place to stay the night before starting the kumano kodo trail.

The location was great and the owner was so helpful in our needs. Great value and wonderful owners.

Although the property was a little out of the way and there was a small snafu with check-in, the stay ended up being absolutely wonderful. The place was extremely comfortable, and it was clear the owners had thought of everything. The bento box for dinner was a lovely touch, and the delicious rolls for breakfast were perfect. A great property if you're hiking the Kumano Kudo Trail. All in all, a really thoughtful, cozy experience—would highly recommend!
