We wandered the hotel grounds looking for birds, and encountered so many species, from kingfishers to eagles, just on the first day alone! Staff were very friendly and helpful; they arranged transportation for us, helped us track down more of the tropical fruit they served on the menu (the mangoes were amazing), and have connections for a variety of excursions.

The property was beautiful! It is set on the side of a mountain. The pool area was perfect.

The hotel is truly a hidden gem - we were so lucky to stay there. The atmosphere is wonderful and cozy, with incredibly beautiful nature all around. The calming sounds of nature allow your mind to fully relax. It was exactly what we needed. An essential part of what makes this place even more special is the staff - everyone is warm, kind, open-hearted, and genuinely caring people. The food is absolutely delicious. We will definitely come back here and highly recommend everyone to stay at this hotel. The rooms are clean and tidy, housekeeping is always on time, and there are simply no downsides!

We had a great time at White Villa Kitulgala! The host is super friendly and even brought us some tea and chocolate pancakes unexpectedly. It is located nearby a river and it is very fun to go for 'fish therapy'. Highly recommended!

It's hard to really capture how amazing this place is in words. The Wanakaset staff was super friendly and accommodating, and truly were the highlight of our trip to Sri Lanka. They helped us drive our rented tuk tuk up the hill (very much needed), and welcomed us with a delicious and refreashing drink. The rooms and the lounge are absolutely stunning, and lovely to spend time in! The food was great, and they were very accommodating to a vegan diet (meat isn't served at all in the resort). We highly recommend doing a guided walk around the property, where you get to see the beautiful nature, learn more about the project, and hear about the properties of the plants around the resort. We also loved the cooking class, where we learned more about Sri Lankan cuisine, and the traditional cooking methods they use in the kitchen. Thank you to Banda and his team, we hope we can come back soon!

We stayed at Leon Hilltop Resort, Kitulgala, and it was a truly memorable experience. Although the owner was not there in person, he made sure everything was perfectly arranged for us. He arranged for Sampath to meet us before the location and assist us to the property, which was very thoughtful. Sampath was extremely helpful and friendly. We were warmly welcomed with a refreshing drink upon arrival. The rooms were very clean, comfortable, and beautifully maintained. While the resort doesn't have its own restaurant, they asked what we wanted for dinner and even brought it from outside during heavy rain, something we truly appreciated. For breakfast, we requested string hoppers, and they kindly arranged rice, bread, and string hoppers. The place is peaceful, very clean, and offers a stunning mountain view. The entire staff, including two other team members whose names we unfortunately didn’t get, were kind, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome. The owner also kept in touch with us throughout our stay to ensure everything was going smoothly. This experience exceeded our expectations and was absolutely worth more than what we paid. Even though we are locals, we were treated with the same care and respect as any guest which is rare. After a tiring field visit to Makandawa Forest Reserve, the calm atmosphere and excellent service made our stay even more enjoyable. Thank you to everyone at Leon Hilltop Resort. A balcony with an amazing view right above the river but next to it is an asbestos roof. The staff was very kind and nice. The rooms were clean

The location is absolutely beautiful. The pool has a Bali like view. And the best part about the stay is the owner who is absolute gem of a host. She is so hospitable and understanding. We could share any concerns with her. It’s a proud female owned stay which makes women feel very welcome. This was one of the very few stays we felt very welcome at.

I loved absolutely everything about this place. The owner, Gayan, is an absolute delight. He was soooooo helpful to us with everything we needed. The property is located in the woods, you have to hike there. These guys put our three suitcases on their heads, and carried them to our room, then back out when we were leaving. The place was clean. Gayan made our vreakfast, lunch and dinner. The food tasted incredible. Don’t book any activities in advance, because they have so much to offer for a better price than you would find online. I am so deeply thankful for the owner, Gayan, he made our stat, with a torn ligament on the foot, in the middle of the forest, a delight.

Beautiful setting beside the river. Food was excellent and service could not have been better. Staff was very attentive and worked hard to ensure everything exceeded expectations. I hope to return someday and highly recommend Rafters Retreat.

The host Mona was amazing. Great cooking and hospitality. A pearl just inside nature. Clean and accommodating. Very quite and full of magic.
