We stayed at Portage for a night while walking the Queen Charlotte track. We got upgraded to the Tui room, which had a lovely view of the sound. The bed was very comfy and the room had everything you need for a night stay. We had dinner at the restaurant, which was great and the staff were friendly. We got a lift to the beginning of the track, which saved 700m of uphill walk on the road.

The food was absolutely fantastic, Staff were so helpful, room needs an update, badly though, time for a refurb I think, garden view so no comment, but would like to stay again some time as the location was perfect.

Staff were excellent, rooms were less than we expected but comfy. Pool was basic but lovely. Kayaks and food, reception and lounge areas were awesome.

I have stayed here previously and my memory of the property was that it was a bit run down. Well, not any more! They’ve really spruced it up post Covid and it’s looking great. Lovely outlook, quiet and peaceful and really helpful staff. I appreciated the ease of getting some ice for my sore knee (after walking 24kms!) and being driven up the road in the morning to the start of the track. Excellent dinner. Lots of amenities - loved having a coffee machine in the room! Would’ve loved to have had a longer stay.

Great food, great service. I'd forgotten to book dinner but they sorted the problem out quickly and no fuss. Just great service. The bed was very comfortable and it's a nice quiet place to stay
