There is quite a bit to do from Isahaya.
There is quite a bit to do from Isahaya. Visit Obama, Unzen and Mt Unzen. But you could also use it as a base for a day trip to Nagasaki. For overseas travellers - a car is essential to see the sites, allowing lots of chances to stop and explore.

We enjoyed eating dinner by the marina, everyone very friendly and a nice outlook.
The rope way up to the viewing point was fun and the view from the top as it got dark was fantastic. The setting sun was very relaxing to watch.
The Glover house and accompanying buildings are not to be missed. Sitting having a bite to eat at the top had a fantastic view.
Did not have many negatives but the trams were only 1 car and every single one was packed with school children at all times of the day.

Beautiful city with a tragic history that it presents in a dignified and moving manner. Easy to get around using the street cars, lovely people, eager to please; we needed another few days to do it justice.
CASTELLA CAKE superb.
Obviously the 'bomb' sites but we really recommend the Shiroyama National school which received the direct hit as no-one was there and it is incredibly moving - everyone seemed to be in the Peace park and the museum but this school says it all. PLEASE VISIT IT. It is free and is still a functioning school.

It is a lovely city which also carries sad history including the execution of Catholic martyrs during 16-18 centuries and the nuclear bombing in 1945. Being Catholics, we spent time on pilgrimage by visiting sites and churches with historic significance. We also enjoyed the trip to Kujuku Islands in the Sasebo city and the famous night scene from the Inasa Yama Overlook. For dining and shopping, we went to Amu Plaza which is located at Nagasaki JR Station.

Very clean. I love the facial cleanser from DHC. It is very near Nagasaki Dejima Wharf. Theres also a tram station in front of the hotel (Ohato Station). Near the You Me mall. Very accessible going back to Nagasaki Airport.

We liked the beds, the stunning view over Nagasaki from the window and the unique design of the sofa. It was nice to have the spa area (with the nice outside view for the public bath and the sauna). The shower was good and the pillows were soft. Nice TV. They had craft beers and other snacks and drinks to buy from reception (albeit a bit expensive).
The hotel can be easily reached from Nagasaki Airport (first stop on the limousine bus going towards the city center followed by a four minute walk).
The staff were very courteous and polite.
