The location was in a busy industrial area. The reception area for check-in was not clearly identified. The room itself was clean and tidy.

We loved that our unit was furnished more like a home than a sterile hotel. All units ground floor with parking in front. It was such a treat to be able to prepare a meal in the well-equipped kitchenette. Impeccably clean, roomy, homey, would that all motels could be this enjoyable.

A small town we stayed overnight only.
A small town we stayed overnight only. Had a beer at the local pub and dinner at the excellent Austin92 restaurant in the evening. Close to the larger centre Oamaru which we spent some time in. The quiet environment in our excellent accommodation made for a relaxing stay towards the end of a busy trip. Didn't see much of Temuka but thoroughly enjoyed the bits we did.

Timaru is an obviously clean town and it’s people so friendly and helpful.
Street signs are frequent and clear.
Accommodation has been exactly what every traveler wants: clean, tidy, affordable and accessible.
Caroline bay itself could be tided up from broken wood etc but surrounding parks were great.
Did not need to use public transport

We stayed in Temuka because the accommodation was cheaper than in Timaru or Geraldine. It is a central location, but there is not much to do while you are there. We walked the main street and found a small antique shop. There was a popular restaurant. We did not book early enough, so we had to travel to Timaru for dinner.

Temuka's great main village street is typical of small -town NZ with Victorian and Edwardian frontages above street verandas . Temuka began its European life as "Wallingford" , a town surveyed in 1863 by Samuel Hewlings one of the first Eurpeans to settle in this area. Also on the main road into town on HWY One at 199 King Street are two magnificent giant Redwood trees planted in 1886 and still standing tall and strong ...Welcome to Temuka.

Timaru is a lovely wee town - great for accessing the mountains of course but a really nice place to visit in it's own right. Some lovely walks, friendly locals, and the Speights Alehouse Mulled Wine is the best anywhere in NZ (and believe me I check them all!)>
