We loved staying at Pico do Refugio. The staff is great, the apartment is lovely and very nicely designed. There is a common room where you can get coffee and cookies whenever you like and a pool with salty water. We appreciated that we had basic things in our apartment like salt, pepper, olive oil and coffee. Also, there is a laundry room. Overall, staying at Pico guarantees that you will have a relaxing holiday.

The property was extremely clean and inviting. A very comfortable space. The grounds are beautiful. Our hosts were so accommodating and responsive, always asking what we needed, and giving those thoughtful little touches that make your stay that much better. The fireplace was so nice in the evenings. Just a lovely place overall. We also liked that it was situated in the middle of the north coast of the island, so traveling to see things both east and west was easy.

Large room at a very nice villa. Very friendly and efficient staff handling the place. The common spaces are large and comfortable. Full large kitchen including everything needed for cooking. We enjoyed a lot and will recommend it

The location of this property was so nice as it was within walking distance to the beach but also easy driving access to everything on the island. The staff were so friendly and helpful and the breakfast each day was perfect. Very clean accommodations.

Lorena and Fernando are the most amazing and hospitable hosts. They really care for their guests and want to make sure they have an amazing time. They can provide you with a lot of information about what you can do on the island and are genuinly nice to talk to. Even though we had a language barrier we could still sit down and have a nice chat. I would really recomend staying here as a solo female traveler. I felt really safe and welcome. Bonus points: The accomodation is really close to the beach and surfschool, and great food is made by lorena and fernando! Great location from where to explore Sao Miguel. The communal outside area was fantastic, with the highlight of the stay being able to enjoy the sunset from the jacuzzi. The owner Paulo also took his time to get us set up and provided us with great tips and itinerary for different day trips.

The apartment was a great home base for exploring Sao Miguel. Maria and Carlos were incredibly friendly and very responsive. Carlos gave us recommendations for exploring the island. Maria was quick to respond to any question we had! The apartment was very spacious, clean, and comfortable. There were plenty of towels and a drying rack which was useful for after visiting all the hot springs!

One of the cheapest non-hostel options on the island. Clean room and comfy bad. Host responses quickly and is willing to help. She let me leave my bag before check-in. Relatively close to the bus stop. Relatively good bus schedule to Pinta Delgada.

Awesome stay. I fully recommend. The house is very clean and comfortable and the hosts are extremely nice and forthcoming. The house is centrally located and within easy reach by car of any other point in the island. The ideal location to explore the island. Small shared terrace with view. My room was spacious. There is some noise from a bar just opposite but if you close the window it was fine.
