I have stayed previously. The rooms are small but very comfortable. Shared bathroom facilities are always clean. Very good value for money at under $100 per night. Right in the main street of Ararat, but not noisy, as the rooms are at the back of the building.

The place was absolutely spotless, and we were left so many thoughtful food items, including everything needed for breakfast. The bathroom is superlative and the shower just perfect. The bed was very very comfortable and the heating worked wonderfully even though it was a cold day outside. The old milk bar has been done up a treat and this was the most interesting and different accommodation we have had. It is simply fantastic. We would very highly recommend to anyone, and particularly with a couple of children as there is much to occupy them there.

Wonderful motel, very close to the town centre and train station. Rooms are very large, especially the bathroom, and well appointed. Bed was very comfortable and the room was exceptionally clean. Could not fault this property. Will definitely be back.

Our room was close to the lovely swimming pool, especially welcome on a very hot day. A small table and two chairs on the balcony. In the kitchen it was handy to have a full size fridge. A microwave as well as an electric cooktop with oven are there for a longer stay. The compact bathroom featured a rain shower. Television is connected to Ballarat stations. We appreciated the park is small, owner-run and near the main part of town. When wifi access was difficult, the staff helped out with an alternative that worked perfectly. All in all a pleasant overnight stay.

YOU ARE NOT PAYING FOR THE HILTON HOTEL, SO DON'T EXPECT IT TO BE THE SAME. This motel was as basic as they come, however great value for money. Great Western is a small country town, but this motel was in the heart of it. Great Pub only 25 metres away, with great food and hospitality. Keys for your room get picked up from the pub. Can't get anymore local than that! We used it as a base for Aradale ghost tour and Jward.

It's a rustic, charming looking very country town.

It's a rustic, charming looking very country town. We used it as a base for trips to halls gap zoo and the Grampians which were half an hour and an hour drive or respectively. On casual walks we saw some nice historic church architecture. Beyond that, the local chemist was knowledgeable and well priced. We only tried the great western hotel's food and it was a poor experience in timeliness if service and quality. Otherwise, we grabbed takeout from Stawell. Next time we'll likely get a motel closer to the attractions.
