Peter and Sharon were so accommodating — available when we needed them, while still giving us plenty of privacy to enjoy the stay. The little touches like freshly baked bread, local free-range eggs, a bottle of champagne, and local jam were such a welcome treat. The accommodation itself has a spectacular view and surrounding gardens, which made the whole experience feel really special.

Clean and well appointed, in line with reasonable expectations for the price. Paul is the main reason we will return there as a priority, service and kindness like that is rare. Have stayed at other lodges and it did not exist at those places.

We loved the fact that we rode the bicycles' provided everywhere. Initially skeptical about Arajilla not having a restaurant on-site - but this was a bonus as we managed to dine in all the local restaurants. The food scene provides an amazing fusion of Asian flavours over freshly caught seafood. We were not disappointed anywhere. The organized pick up and return services shared by all the accommodation and restaurants means you can relax about getting to and from the evening meal. Our suite at Arajilla had everything required in a small kitchen for breakfast and we cooked one dinner - combo of BBQ and kitchen. I wouldn't change anything about our stay. Arajilla is perfectly located for all activities. Be prepared though, for an active holiday - in our view, Lord Howe Island is the perfect mix of activity (nature walks and climbs for varying levels of fitness), great food and R&R. But remember - its an island - everything comes in by ship- so its expensive for the locals and the tourists. Visitors should respect the uniqueness and tranquility of the island. We can't think of anywhere else to holiday that is quite like it.

I liked most the amazing scenery and pristine beauty absolutely everywhere. I marvelled, whilst trying to swim, at the cleanliness of the water but balked when fish tried to nibble at my feet and costume. I discovered the shed with the free wet suits on the day of departure. Diving did not appeal to me. Neither did snorkelling after all the horrid shark attacks in Sydney. However, I recommend the glass bottom boat and a trip to Balls Pyramid. The fact LHI has never had a shark attack of any description did not entice me to swim out at sea. The locals are extremely resourceful. Power everywhere is solar, they make their own alcohol, e.g gin and beer and eat King fish caught that day. We hired a car as the Island is very steep hilled. Most people sweated it out on push bikes. The cars are wired to go no faster than about 25klm per hour, Bikes and wildlife have right of way. The car place, Wilson's, were terrific too.

Stunning and remote location to visit and explore.

Stunning and remote location to visit and explore. The views on all the hikes were incredible. Swimming with the tropical fish at Ned's beach is a highlight as well as the climb to the summit of Mt Gower. The crooked bar was a great social place to have drinks after a day of activities. Great coffee at Jim's and The Anchorage.

Fairly easy to get to most parts of the island by walking or bike. Good beaches with interesting snorkelling. Underestimated the difficulty of the Mt Gower walk and didn't make it to the top (which was in cloud anyway). Enjoyed the glass-bottom boat/snorkel experience. Also Ned's Beach. Cafes, restaurants, and supermarkets expensive but understandably so in view of isolation. Bowling club, Jim's cafe, Coral cafe, Thompson's store were favourites.

I loved Lord Howe Island.

I loved Lord Howe Island. It is the perfect place to escape the city, reconnect with nature and have some great adventures. Balls Pyramid was spectacular, the snorkelling was in pristine waters and the turtles were huge. I loved the amazing number and variety of birds. I would score LHI as 10 out of 10!
