All the needs of a continental breakfast were in the room. A large variety of cereals, bread for toast, fruit, condiments and FRESH milk were provided. Room was spotless and had a homely feel about it.

I was contacted by the owner just prior to arriving and given the necessary information to access the accommodation. The property was spotlessly clean. Just about everything you would need for a longer stay. Shower was hot and strong. Onsite laundry was welcome as we needed to do a catch up wash. Bedrooms were upstairs and beds were comfortable. Water views were exceptional.

Exceptional location with a wonderful view. Not only that but Andy provided binoculars and a telescope for us to enjoy it. The kitchen is small but very well equipped, good sized fridge/freezer. Loved the space, the bed, the fluffy towels - appreciate the inclusion of face cloths. Loved the decor and lay out.

Location, location, location. The cottage would have been memorable even if it didn’t sit at the bottom of an absolutely gorgeous lighthouse (Cape Nelson) about 13k from Portland. Entry was a snap,, and I had no issues whatsoever. The bed was comfortable, and the walk-in shower was excellent: modern, functional, and good pressure.

This place exceeded my expectations. The building looked a bit tired on outside but they did have some recent storm damage but that didnt affect the inside. Inside this place is amazing. Lots of room in our 4 poster queen room. The shared lounge room is great as is the dining room with complimentary beer, wine, water, soft drinks, port, biscuits, chocolates, coffee. If the weather wasnt so bad we would of stayed here a few nights. Close to some nice eateries. Host was very friendly and informative of the area with a very friendly grey hound. Highly recommend a stay here.

Everything! It was such a welcomed surprise after travelling for 6 weeks and ending up in some very mediocre accommodations. The owner was very helpful, accommodation was charming and immaculate and the location was fabulous. We would recommend without hesitation and should we return to the area we would absolutely stay at the Annesley House again.

Portland is a great place to stay as it is a great place to use as a central point to see other areas. Views are fantastic and we were spoilt for choice for places to eat. The hotels etc had fabulous food and the Chinese restaurant was great. Whale watching is a must do. You can get fresh seafood from the shop on the pier and really Portland didn't disappoint.

Reason for travel was to see friends. From previous visits I also know that there is a lot of interesting things to see in Portland, especially around the port itself. There is also a great cafe there where you can watch boats come in.

Interesting history and buildings.

Interesting history and buildings. Foreshore area was clean and well kept . RSL display in water tower very interesting along with the tram tour and Botanical Gardens. Back streets and most shop fronts very untidy , overgrown grass and lots of cigarette butts every where. Cape Bridgewater, beautiful with great fish and chips on the foreshore.

Portland has a nice beach (Nuns Beach or Whaler's Beach), but because of the bad weather we didn´t feel like swimming. It is a meeting point for dog walkers and early morning swimmers. Nice size of a city easy to find your way around. Wonderful view over the harbour and great possibilities to take photos of the ships. Interesting harbour activitites, wood shipping and fishing port. Most interesting for us was the gunnet colony at danger point where a very knowlegable guide opened the gate at 5:30 p.m. and gave surprising insights!

Everything you need is in the town and brilliant countryside...

Everything you need is in the town and brilliant countryside and beaches all around. The deep-water port is huge and occupied at the south by landing gear and a wood chip mill. The other half of the port is beautiful, with recreational facilities and very pretty. We also watched a cruise ship arrive one day. The industrial part of the town is very tidy and interesting, particularly as it is an essential part of Australian commerce and history. It is a very clean place with a markedly-different vibe to the sleepy places nearby. Well worth staying for a few days. We were there in February and were told that Winter, with rain, mist and cooler weather is not so good. It would still be an excellent place for fishing!!!

A small town with a bit to experience.

A small town with a bit to experience. The tram ride, WWII museum in an old water tower, car museum and whale/seafearing museum on the info centre. Great casual walking areas as facilities in the township. The free guided tour of the garnet colony was fantastic too.
