Words really fail me to explain how special this property was. The attention to every single detail was exquisite. I’m a professional organizer. My business is details. I’ve never seen anything like this. Everything - even the lights on the floor that automatically come on when you walk into the bathroom - was planned perfectly when this former convent was remodeled to make a sacred space for all its guests. There was even framed sheet music in the halls to, I assume, pay homage to the beautiful music that must’ve once graced the hallways. The staff was so warm and welcoming. The breakfast buffet was like something out of a Veranda magazine spread. The breakfast was delicious. At every turn in the hotel and the room itself, we were met with a delightful and unexpected experience. Who puts this much thought into a public space? The Cookie Jar does. You made our once-in-a-lifetime trip unforgettable.

The location is great, close to Alnwick castle, there are plenty free public parkings behind the hotel including no-disc parking which is must-have for guests of the town. The restaurant's interior design is amazing, it allows you to feel Titanic's passenger, without any catastrophical consequences :)

River joins the sea so both riverside and seaside.

River joins the sea so both riverside and seaside. The beach is clean and sandy. Lovely place for a stroll. Eveything you need is in walking distance. The red lion, sun inn and hope and anchor were all great pubs. You will probably have to book in advance for bistro 23. We didn't so can't comment other than others raved about it. Church is worth a visit. Overall a lovely place particularly if you want to relax. Alnmouth has a train station about a mile from the centre - trains go to Newcastle and Berwick on Tweed.

Alnmouth is bracing, you don't go there for gentle tropical breezes, you go there to be bought alive by the weather, and maybe play on one of the world's oldest golf courses. The village is close to the old town of Alnwick, which, amongst other things, has Barter Books, the biggest second hand bookshop I've ever found. But you don't go to that part of the world for the shopping, you go for the sea, the wonderful countryside, the wake-me-up weather.

Alnmouth has a few eateries and one quite well stocked village shop. You won’t find any reasonable food delivery options but you can take away from some of the restaurants if you don’t want to eat in. We enjoyed fish and chips from the Hope and Anchor. The beach is nice but has no facilities. You have a short walk to the nearest place for the toilet or a drink. Unless you are there for the beach all day, you will exhaust all that Alnmouth has to offer within a day.

We travelled there by train., which was brilliant - though the walk was about 25 minutes to the village, we enjoyed the element of discovery. There was a handy and efficient bus service which we used for short trips to Alnwick and to Warkworth. If we'd been there longer, we'd have taken the bus to Bamburgh and Berwick. Facilities in the village were good (a well stocked post office shop, high class deli, intriguing gift shops, art gallery and a handful of eateries, mostly pubs) but we seemed to hit closing day for several establishments, which was disappointing. The village, set around the estuary is a charming place to explore, also the endless beach.

The location of the Red Lion is perfect for exploring Alnmouth and the areas around. We were welcomed and shown to our room which was lovely. It was quiz night in the Red Lion so we ate out but were assured we would not be disturbed in our room as it was well away from the pub rooms. The pub has a lovely beer garden which we made use of as we were very lucky to have sunny days. The pizzas cooked in the Pizza Hut smelt delicious but we did not actually eat in the pub this time. We would really like to visit again.

This is a great place to stay in Alnmouth. The locals recommend it, which is always a good sign. The inn has character, which is reflected in the room. Everything was clean and proper, as expected. I was here to visit family, so didn't spend too much time in the pub itself. Alnmouth is bracing: you don't come here for gentle tropical breezes, you come here to be bought alive by the weather ... and maybe to play on one of the world's oldest golf courses. The room was perfect for the place.

We know Alnmouth well , this cottage was just off the Main Street and only a short walk to the Village Golf Course which is lovely . Cosy cottage but 2 couples might find it a bit small especially if the weather wasn’t good. Two nice meals in The Whittling House and Bistro 23 . Trip to the Farne Islands , Alnwick Gardens and lots of lovely beach walks .

The location is great. We love Alnmouth - it's a thriving village with nice shops, pubs and restaurants and it's right on the coast and accessible for Northumbria's beautiful beaches. The house is extremely clean, comfortable and well equipped and just a few minutes walk from the village. The enclosed garden was ideal for our dog.
