Beautiful property and grounds. Excellent bar and restaurant too! But best of all were the staff. Pedro was a delight upon our late arrival - nothing was too much and he was so helpful. Breakfast and checkout with Brad was seamless - a true professional and a really kind and helpful gentleman managing our stay. Thank you!

Our one-night stay at Dumbleton Hall with my wife was truly wonderful and felt like stepping into the world of an English country manor house from the late Victorian or Edwardian era. Following its recent refurbishment and reopening on 2 April 2026, the hotel has managed to preserve a genuine sense of grandeur and character throughout. Approaching the manor is an experience in itself. As you drive gently uphill through the countryside, the magnificent Cotswold-stone house gradually appears at the top of the hill. Upon entering, the atmosphere immediately feels warm and timeless. Passing through the reception into the main hall, there was still the subtle scent of a recent chimney fire lingering in the air. It must feel especially magical in winter. The interiors are beautifully done, with a grand hall, an elegant library and bar, comfortable lounges, and a lovely terrace overlooking the grounds. The 19-acre gardens are classic English countryside at its best, with peaceful lawns and a beautiful pond. Walking there with my wife, I felt like the lord of the manor. We dined at Cedar 1905 and were very impressed. The Michelin-starred background of the team clearly shows in the quality of the food. The dishes were refined, balanced, and thoughtfully executed, with a modern touch whilst respecting classic foundations. The service throughout the hotel was excellent: professional, warm, and attentive. Breakfast was also very enjoyable. We stayed in the Junior Suite and liked it very much. The room was tastefully furnished with a lovely period feel. Overall, Dumbleton Hall does a remarkable job of preserving that classic English manor house atmosphere whilst still feeling welcoming and relaxed. We left already hoping to return.

This is a charming Inn in a great location across from the Tewkesbury Abbey. It has exceptional character, cozy, relaxing dining rooms and bar. The weather was great during our visit and we loved taking our lunch, dinner and drinks in the outside sitting area. Menu was very good and the staff were the best. I was unlucky to get a room with a plumbing problem which was addressed the following day. .but left me without water.and use of my shower during the day The Alstone room was noisy during the nighty, perhaps situated over the boiler i think I was just unlucku The inn has character ,atmosphere and kindly staff. The food was excellent.witha menu that would appeal to a wide range of tastes,. The people in the dining room all seemed yo be enjoying their choices. It would be good for drivers ,as there is parking ,but it is situated outside the village with limited pubic transport a difficult walk with a suitcase.. I had relied on public transpory and was ljucky to have caught the last bus connecting to Tewkesbury.

Good points , its location , its staff, dog friendly , plenty of parking, comfortable room. Bad points, very poor water pressure, shower was a dribble first morning. Very noisy plumbing when anyone used water ( taps or toilet) . An overwhelming stench of rotten eggs in bathroom( same as a year ago) . The stench was so bad it filled the whole room if bathroom door left open. The carpets looked worn , in places this hotel looks tired. The £12 for a glass of red wine at the bar is a bit steep!

Background music in the bar was intrusive in our bedroom and disturbing. Given the restaurant and bar were quite busy I doubt anyone down there realised it was on. Perhaps consider not having it on? For the second time in a week at a Buttcombe Inn there was an error with our bill.
