This is a stunning location if you want to totally get away...

This is a stunning location if you want to totally get away from it all, and have nothing to listen to but goats, sheep, cows and see some gorgeous wildlife! The accommodation is so cosy, but super comfortable, and you have a gorgeous pub two minutes away in the fox and hounds!

From the short time I spent there, I really enjoyed it! I was staying in Danby for a wedding at Danby Castle Barn which was a gorgeous location, I wish I could’ve had a full day exploring and visiting more local establishments.

After a long drive north on my first evening I walked...

After a long drive north on my first evening I walked through the village to the River Esk and station before dinner in the Duke of Wellington. On both mornings I walked to the nearby Moors Centre (15 mins) - carrying on across the river and up to Danby Castle on my last morning where I had left my car at the wedding venue attended the day before. Stunning countryside and views - wish I could have stayed longer but will one day come back to walk/cycle and to explore the coastline.

Great location for visiting the Danby Lodge National Park,...

Great location for visiting the Danby Lodge National Park, we were on the Astrodog Stargazing event. We walked around Danby Beacon and drove around the local area, visiting places of interest and the Fox and Hounds Inn at Ainthorpe.

Danby village is a 5 min drive/40 min walk away and is easy...

Danby village is a 5 min drive/40 min walk away and is easy to get around. There's a local pub serving food though we didn't go there as we generally self catered. Danby Botton with a good store, in the other direction, is also a 5 min drive/40 min walk away. Excellent walking country on the door step.

Danby is such a pretty village nestled in an outstandingly beautiful valley. The teashop/bakers in village provides great hot/cold snakes and cakes and worth a visit. Great location for exploring the Northern end of the National Park by foot or/and car.

Daisy Cottage was very clean, comfortable and spacious. Great location, about half an hour drive from Whitby. It was lovely to have fresh milk in the fridge on our arrival and delicious Yorkshire Brack cake. Great information sheet was provided and we used the books available to plan our walk across the Moors near Danby and Ainthorpe. Rachel was very welcoming and friendly. We would definitely recommend this cottage and location to family and friends and look forward to visiting again in the future.

Lovely spacious bedroom with views over the village green and surrounding hills. Characterful country inn serving good food. New managers were very friendly as were the other well established staff. Everything was spotlessly clean. The Esk Valley train stops at Danby Station so Whitby is a picturesque train ride away.

Charlotte was very helpful and friendly. Great puns and bakery close by and very close to the castle where we needed to be. Would definitely stay again if ever needed to come back to Danby.
