Love the atmosphere. Rooms were clean and the team was helpful. Dinner was very nice (it was in a different room because our dog was not allowed in the restaurant but it was well arranged). Hotel is located just next to the beach so a great area for a walk. Everything was great.

This was a good place to stay, excellent room with good bed and so clean. Breakfast was good on the Friday thanks to the lady that served me and even better when it was the buffet breakfast on the following morning. Heinz Tomato sauce and HP sauce bottles on every table - that says a lot!

Very stylish hotel directly opposite the Harbour Arm in Folkestone. I was dining at RockSalt so it was a perfect location. Didn't book breakfast so can't comment. Design gorgeous. Bed lovely. Nice touches all round.

Folkestone was very run down and unloved.

Folkestone was very run down and unloved. We saw tramps sleeping rough and lots of young men wandering around the beach area at night . The walk from the hotel to town was not particularly a nice experience if you kept to the main path with council bins lining the route.

Folkestone has a vibrant Harbour area with many bars and restaurants, and nearby to the Harbour is The Old High Street with unique small shops, and more restaurants. But beware, unless staying down at the Harbour level, there are steep hills to walk back up if your accommodation is in the residential areas of Folkestone. Folkestone is an ideal base to visit tourist sites of east Kent; Dover Castle and Richborough Roman fort (both English Heritage); White Cliffs of Dover (National Trust); Dungeness and the many museums which reflect Kent's part in the Battle of Britain. Further afield Chatham Dockyard and Rochester (Castle, Cathedral and town) are about 1hr drive away.

Some great pubs in Folkestone - eg the British Lion and The Pullman. Both do good food. Great walk along The Leas, including the walks down to sea level. Numerous cafes - Steep Street is particularly good. Generally a good vibe - and people are friendly. A really attractive town.

Folkestone Harbour and Harbour Arm have so much to offer.

Folkestone Harbour and Harbour Arm have so much to offer. Stunning views, entertainment and a huge selection of great dining experiences. Kingsnorth gardens are well worth a visit as is the Old High Street and the Leas. There are also many places of interest nearby, including the Battle of Britain Memorial at Capel Le Ferne. I highly recommend eating at Sailbox, Little Rock and She Sells Seashells, and for a great evening book to play darts and shuffleboard at The Boardroom and then eat a fabulous meal there.

Folkestone is an old, historic town, in a hilly area so if you walk you need to be able to manage some steep streets. It has a sandy beach, shingle beaches, some beautiful formal flower gardens and a lovely coastal park. It's very handy for visiting places such as Dover Castle, or the Romney Hythe and Dymchurch railway, or Canterbury, as well as other coastal towns such as Deal, or further around the coast, Broadstairs. I travel exclusively by train or bus, and I have managed to visit many different places, starting at Folkestone bus station. There are cafes and restaurants and the usual fast food places in Folkestone's main shopping street. I like walking, and you can certainly do that along the cliff tops, up in the hills, along the beaches.

The Burstin is an honest value-for-money hotel in a great location. I’ve been staying here for years when I travel to and from France to the UK via Dover or the tunnel. It was on its uppers seven years ago but now it’s on the up. Cheapish bar that’s open til late, decent food, music entertainment for those on short breaks… there’s no pretence. It’s honest about what it offers and staff definitely care more than they used to. It’s a big project for the newish corporate owners. But I wish them well and enjoyed my most recent stay.

Very nice hotel on the seafront with a nice lift to take you up. Rooms were very good with bathroom and extra storage space. Again the owner was very helpful in accommodating me with a special request. If you're down these neck of the woods and have got a Chunnel or Ferry then I would recommend this hotel and also Folkestone as a whole as the walk along the Leas was very pleasant.

The flat was not too far away from the centre of Folkestone and it was so nice to feel like we were living in a home rather than a hotel room. There was a Tesco nearby for all our needs and parking wasn't a problem. The host got back promptly with any questions and there was a telly and broadband.
