We loved it, this hotel was exceptional, from walking through the door when we arrived to leaving the following morning. The room was cosy, bed very comfortable and the food in the hotel was fabulous. Every staff member was clearly well-trained and really bothered about doing their best for the guests. It is in a stunning location and the attention to detail is amazing too.

Lovely old Inn, well maintained and Sean particularly was very helpful. Nice location, plenty of secure parking and the breakfast really good! All in all by far the best lodging on our trip!

I loved the look of the property, very modern, clean and spacious. Really nice complementary biscuits and coffee at the property. There was an iron and hairdryer and the heating was lovely and warm. It was in a lovely location to get to Whitby, and the butches next door served a lovely breakfast sandwich.

Lovely apartment with everything you need at your fingertips. We stayed for one night following a visit to Whitby and could not fault it. Peaceful surroundings, teabags, milk and biscuits were well received after a busy day. The dog wash outside the annex was a bonus to wash down our dog's wet and muddy paws. The bed and pillows were very comfy!

Perfect for a visit to 'Heartbeat' country and 'Aidensfield', very beautiful countryside and the hotel was lovely - would stay again. Could have stayed longer - great for walkers, tea and cake shops excellent, roads quiet (not full of potholes like everywhere further south!).

Goathland is a small village nestling in a valley in the North York Moors. The only sounds outside are the bleating of sheep, birdsong and the occasion toot of steam engines from the railway. We loved the North York Moors Railway, and made a return trip to Pickering. We also walked to Grosmont and back on the rail trail, with wild garlic in the hedgerows. We also made trips to York, Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay.

A lovely place for walking on the moors or beaches lovely villages Whitby, robin hoods bay and all along the coast walking boots needed depends on where your going beaches at bottom of cliffs so need to be fit enough to manage steps. Depends on what beaches you want to visit we go to look for a few fossils, lots of ups and downs but wonderful views plenty of parking and places to eat. Something for everyone family's dogs etc. a lovely coast and beautiful moors including steam train .

The beautiful vistas and the quaint village made for a relaxing stay. Our hosts really looked after us. Dinner at The Inn on the Moors, a short walk from Halmer Grange was perfect. Great service and delicious food.

Goathland is a really nice place to be, when all is quiet, early morning or evening time it is absolutely magical. The Inn on the moor and the Mallyan Spout hotel are lovely places to eat and drink unfortunately I can’t say the same about the Goathland hotel. If you like walking then Goathland is a great place to start.

It's £4 to park there but several places to eat and drink, the Hearbeat locations and the steam trains. Worth a visit even if you are not interested in heartbeat or trains. Sheep graze throughout the village so dogs must be on leads.
