Homely with absolutely everything you could need. A friendly, welcoming host. A delicious breakfast with everything locally sourced, even home-made bread. As far away as possible from corporate accommodation. Our second visit and hopefully won’t be our last. We loved it.

This is a beautiful place to stay. The staff are lovely very efficient and friendly. If you want a break to relax and recharge your batteries this is the place to be. The food is amazing we had an evening meal and breakfast. The lady on reception was so nice. Booking. Com had mixed our booking up and gave us the wrong room but she quickly rectified this error. The round copper bath is the icing on the cake. I will look forward to our next stay as we will definitely be returning maybe in the summer to explore the beautiful surroundings. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Stunning grounds and entrance. Clean and modern. Lovely restaurant with nice staff. Ease of access. Hotel staff were so accommodating- Susan and Alex really made it such a a wonderful experience. The highlight was the night porter who ran all sorts of errands for us in the morning. He was a legend but we didn’t get his name!

Enjoyed the location, completely out the way situated on the A68, no noise in the room and although the bed creaked, had the best 3 nights sleep in such a long time. Bar / Cafe below the room with really nice owners which gave a very warm welcome and easy to talk to, had a couple of beers with them and was left in awe of how much they have achieved!

The Hosts were so helpful without being overpowering.

The Hosts were so helpful without being overpowering. For breakfast the the hostst directed us to a garden centre, on the edge of Lanchester, just a few minutes by car, well worth the visit - breakfast excellent. The apartment is comfortable, clean and well furnished. A couple of minutes walk will take you to a Spar shop should you need any food or drink. Overal an excellent stay and if we were visiting Lanchester again we would not hesitate to re-book.

Not far from Lanchester is the Park and Ride to Durham.

Not far from Lanchester is the Park and Ride to Durham. Beamish Open Air Museum is a short drive. Ravellos Italian Restaurant and The King's Head are good places in Lanchester to eat in the evening. There are several areas to walk along such as the old railway track which is now a public footpath.

handy location for visiting durham's variety of sites. we chose to dine at the place we were staying as the food is excellent there. we used the park and ride into durham city and it was brilliant and good value for money, parked for free and £2.00 per person for the bus - made visiting so stress free.

This was my first time in this area, I stayed in a rural environment and the views were amazing. I got lucky with sunny days and traveling around the area, the rolling hills were very eyecatching. Lovely views from the hill tops, there are lots of hills, not so good if you have trouble getting about, however driving around and taking in the views in the quiet country lanes was a big highlight for me. The towns are easy to find and are clustered around a twenty mile area, which means you don't have to travel far to see new things or visit a different towns.

Excellent homely pub/hotel. Friendly staff. Room was warm and comfortable. Bed was comfy. Handy walk opposite for our dog. Evening meals were amazing and good value, generous portion sizes. Breakfast was brilliant and served with a smile. Sonia was so lovely and it was sad to hear about the loss of Meg. X Will definitely stay again.
