Poole is an amazing town, great restaurants, the departure of unforgettable tours, boat trips and walks. The Breezer Bus 60 will take you to the ferry then to Swanage which is the beginning of the Jurassic coast with its cliffs, Old Harry etc. Without mentioning the Purbeck ice-creams.Only 2 hours from London by train.

The Quay area is lovely.

The Quay area is lovely. I suggest getting there by 11am to park the car easily. From the quayside you can book to have trips by boat around the harbour, along the Jurassic coast to Swansea and back also return trip to Brownsea Island. All worth doing. The commentaries we really enjoyed. Poole Town Museum is well worth a visit. It has a nice gift shop and cafe too. Compton Acres, are beautiful gardens and somewhere to relax also enjoy the cafe and gift shops including their garden plants.Poole offers plenty of good quality places to eat and drink. The Arts Centre including The Lighthouse theatre complex offers top class entertainment and easy parking nearby. The bus station is opposite. We enjoyed our stay at the RNLI College.

We attended the first night of the Poole Harbour Festival - which was great. We attended last year as well and are planning to go again. We've not really explored Poole as we went specifically for this purpose - but we went in the Jolly Sailor - lovely staff, quick service and great music. We also felt safe walking about. There were loads of families and all different age ranges - so clearly a popular spot.

Lots to do. Recommend Poole Museum. Nice trip to Bournemouth beach, Sandbanks beach, and Compton Acres. Lots of other beaches reachable by bus. The Breezer buses are excellent and local ones go to good places as well. Easy transport around. There is a coach station next to bus station for longer trips, Flixbus and National Express stop there

Room: comfortable. clean, all the right things in the right places. Hotel facilities: fascinating place with plenty of RNLI history to read about. Excellent RNLI shop. Staff really friendly & had time for us. Restaurant: reasonable value, accommodated kids menu, good selection, very good beers. Excellent breakfast. Parking: free as part of the room rate. Cost: one of the cheaper hotels in Poole, but I'm sure one of the best.
