Everything about this hotel exceeded our expectations! It has been recently renovated to a very high standard and the design and furnishings are stylish and comfortable. The hotel is stunning. The staff were lovely and welcoming and went out of their way at breakfast to provide a gluten free alternative. It made a nice change to have some interesting items on the breakfast menu such as eggs benedict, florentine etc and it was all freshly cooked to order, rather than being a breakfast buffet. If you ordered breakfast in advance at the hotel (which we did when we arrived) it was only £10 per head which was very good value. The room we were allocated was spotless, stylishly furnished, very comfortable bed (one of the best hotel beds we have slept in!) and lovely bathroom.

What Guests Said About Steyning:

Local shops are very unique and interesting.

Local shops are very unique and interesting. Local public houses and coffee shops have plenty of space and an array of menus to suit all. We had food both at the White Horse and Star Inn. We had drinks on the Sunday evening at the Cheqeur Inn were bar staff made us feel very welcome. It’s a quirky, and beautiful part of Sussex with original 1770 buildings and a short visit to Bramber Castle and routes out to other local walks including the Adur river, which is full of wildlife and natural beauty. Main high street can be busy to park, but there is more than plenty of parking, including assessable car spaces off the high street with able parking and easy access to the towns main area.

Besides having time with an old friend who lives in Steyning, I especially enjoyed walking up onto the Downs (via the Upper Horseshoe trail) and admiring the wonderful view of the Downs and the sea and the Weald of Sussex. I was impressed by the Community Orchard and the conservation scheme to re-establish species-rich chalk grassland. I made good use of the buses - would have been stranded without them! I enjoyed a brief visit to the parish church and was sorry not to have more time to have a good look round the museum. I enjoyed a good meal in an Italian restaurant near the Clock Tower.

As a local lad, born in Brighton I already knew the area, so had no need to visit castle or surrounding area. Steyning is a nice safe area to visit and the South Downs and the seaside towns are close by.

Steyning is nice, but this hotel is actually in Bramber.

Steyning is nice, but this hotel is actually in Bramber. Bramber is about 20 mins walk from Steyning. Bramber is a lovely village with 2 pubs,a pharmacy and a newsagent/general store. The castle remains are right opposite the hotel. There is access to the river Adur from the village. St Mary's House is a few minutes walk away and is lovely to visit.

Steyning itself a short drive from our hotel.

Steyning itself a short drive from our hotel. We visited the Parish Church , and the Museum both are worth some time spent. The High street was very crowded, as there was a market open in main car park. Perhaps may have visited a different day, as need disabled parking facility, and had a long stroll from outside the church.

Breakfast was at a level of five star hotel! My wife has quite severe mobility issues but was able to manage the stairs without too much difficulty. Diana was everything you could want from a hostess - helpful, kind , understanding and thoughtful. There are not many B&B in Steyning but Uppingham is a star in a dark night! And at £95.00 for a double room / night, this was a bargain. I cannot recommend this accommodation highly enough.

We stayed in Combe Cottage which is in a very private, quiet location (we didn't hear a sound all week). Absolutely loved it! It's a great size and has great facilities: the kitchen had everything we needed and much more besides. The bed was huge and extremely comfy. We also really liked Steyning. A lovely town with great local shops and plenty to see. Would definitely return if we're in the area again.

Our room was lovely, clean, with a fridge which was helpful for insulin - everything was thoughtful for their guests. Two large cans water in fridge, tea and coffee facilities with biscuits, good toiletries - breakfast served from 7.30 and good quality. Receptionist and restaurant manager couldn’t have been more helpful. Highly recommend. We stay in many hotels as a UK training company

Breakfast was good. Large selection to choose from. As for walking around, I already knew the area so did not explore as a tourist would. I used the hotel to rest overnight in after attending an event in Brighton before my 4 hr drive home.
