the location is magnificent. the hotel is decorated beautifully with so much attention to details and even some sense of humor. the staff (especially Amy) were super helpful, going out of their way to help with anything you need. the place feels like being part of a Tim Barton movie. we loved every minute. dinners are super expensive but they are fun. you get to drink and dine with the other guests hear their stories and bond for the night.

Love this hotel! The staff was wonderful and everyone was very gracious during our stay. My brother and his wife loved their room and the furnishings - a step back in time. It was like a honeymoon for them. The food in the dining room was delicious especially the duck breast! My sister and I enjoyed our rooms, very comfortable. Would definitely stay there again . thank you to all the staff. We certainly enjoyed our conversations with all of you.

Good location for general sightseeing, we enjoyed the distilleries, Dumroamin Castle and gardens, Dornoch Cathedral to name a few. Tain had petrol stations, supermarkets and late night convenience stores, as well as takeaways and coffee shops

Tain is an ancient & historic town close to the Dornoch...

Tain is an ancient & historic town close to the Dornoch Firth. There are some lovely local shops as well as major retailers (Home Bargains, Lidl, Tesco & Asda) and fuel stations. A Tom Morris designed links golf course, a local gym & lovely walks means you have plenty to keep you active. The town is built on a hill so if you have accessibility or mobility issues to consider be prepared for some steep sloping pavements.

I was visiting family so didn't need to find much to do to...

I was visiting family so didn't need to find much to do to entertain myself. There are a couple of supermarkets in Tain & glass blowing factory. Lots of distilleries around if that's what your interested in. I did drive to Inverness for a shopping trip.

Our accommodation and the restaurant that was very close...

Our accommodation and the restaurant that was very close made our time in Tain absolutely wonderful. We also enjoyed the distillery that is a very short drive up the road. We hope to come back someday soon and explore more of the area.

Tain is a lovely quiet place to stay in but i did not like...

Tain is a lovely quiet place to stay in but i did not like the restaurant at the Station. Overpriced basic food which i would not go back for. I wish i had gone to the Tesco along the road, bought 3 Rib Eye Steaks and cooked at home as it would have been much better value for money!!!

We used this as a stopover travelling down from Orkney to Fife, the hotel was "just ok" but having to go to another hotel for a cooked breakfast made the pricing structure a bit over the top.

Although a little dated the hotel was very well looked after and exceptionally clean. The location was great, a short walk to town. Ample parking, nice grounds, impressive building and lovely traditional communal areas. The room was a little bit dated, but very clean and spacious with a large bed and everything we needed. Towels were lovely and fluffy, appreciated the heated towel rail. Shower had good pressure and hot water. Nice view of trees outside. We had breakfast at the sister hotel which was great.

A very modern caravan. Almost everything you need to stay is missing. Check in is very easy. Everything is in the right place. Tea, coffee, milk, bread, butter, jam, biscuits are all placed as a welcome treat upon first entry. Especially sparkling wine. :) The place is very clean. Comfortable. Warm. You can stay as comfortably as if you are at home. Since the city of Tain is easy to get to, all the necessary things are easily available. There are many places to visit around depending on the location.

This is an excellent place to stay in Tain. Very convenient for the railway station and the town centre. Good places to eat nearby - especially Platform 1864 and the St Duthus Hotel which are both within a 10 minute walk. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great - everything offered was tasty and good quality. The facilities in the room were wonderful (especially the shower room and the smart TV) - much better than many hotels we've been stayed in.

Rooms are fresh, tidy, tasteful and very comfortable. Continental breakfast was very nice. The host was very easy to contact and helpful. We enjoyed our stay very much and definitely recommend this beautiful, quiet hotel for anyone visiting Tain.
