The location and grounds are breathtaking, peaceful, you feel completely in tune with nature and it is a great place to relax. The spa facilities are great, if you are into walks the grounds offer great strolls in nature. The hotel overall has an old world charm to it. The dinner was good at the Walled Garden restaurant.

The location is superb… the view and the main building is very appealing. The fact that dinner and breakfast is included at a level comparable to a Michelin restaurant add a ton of value to staying here.

Whitley was a lovely peaceful spot to return to after a day...

Whitley was a lovely peaceful spot to return to after a day in Bath. We were based at The Pear Tree Inn in Whitely, which was absolutely beautiful, and drove to the 'park and bus' area near Bath (about 30 minutes) to save taking car into Bath. We wished we had spent more time in Whitely as it is near the historic village of Lacock and lots of other attractions, such as Stonehenge and National gardens. Lovely local food and wine is a must while in this part of England.

The Pear Tree Inn is a beautiful old country inn, surrounded by a beautiful large gardens, but my mobility issues mean I wouldn’t stay again. Also the size of the Tosca Gatden room was small - photographs made it look much larger than it actually was. The staff were lovely and the interior was superbly furnished.

Whitley isn't really a destination.

Whitley isn't really a destination. It's near Melksham and not far from Bath, which I imagine is the purpose of being there for many people. It's a quiet location off the beaten track. You must use a satnav to find the right part of it as the road network is counter-intuitive. There is an excellent Italian restaurant nearby in Shaw.

We came for a short break and we loved it.

We came for a short break and we loved it. The WIFI signal might become slow during your stay but nothing that you can't work with. You had TV in the room with Netflix, which is a plus. It was an amazing stay. Bed and pillows very good, breakfast amazing, loads of hot breakfast. The vegetarian dish that I hose was so good.

My friends and I had no other purpose than to spend time together and, (apart from a delicious lunch at The Pear Tree - 5 mins walk) we spent the entire 3 days in the garden and house. If you want a few days of peace and privacy, with whatever you need just a quick text away, then this is absolutely ideal. We loved having the horses hang out with us too. We cooked all our meals there, and there was nothing we couldn't find in the kitchen inc. salt, pepper & oil. Great shower, comfy beds, lovely decor - Lagard stables had everything we needed and more.
