Everything, such a beautiful barn, well equipped and the welcome gifts were well received. The Pool was huge, lovely and warm and plenty of towels available. The added bonus was a second jacuzzi in the pool area along with the private one with the barn.

I spent most of my stay in Port Sunlight, but definitely recommend it for anyone visiting Merseyside. Staying on Wirral makes for a more relaxing trip than being in the centre of Liverpool but is just 14 minutes away via Merseyrail. Port Sunlight still feels like something of a 'hidden gem' with many people not knowing anything about it. It is a beautiful 'model' workers' village that hosts my favourite art gallery, the Lady Lever Gallery at its centre. We had dinner at The Bridge Inn in Port Sunlight on our first night. It's a "Greene King" pub in a historic local building. The menu is pretty typical pub fayre but the food was good quality and enjoyable, and they have some great offers on different nights which made it very reasonably priced.

The southern side of Wirral is far nicer than the more...

The southern side of Wirral is far nicer than the more industrial side around Birkenhead or Wallasey. Lots of great walks and countryside run along the Dee estuary. The Wirral Way, Wirral Country Park, Thurstaston Hill, Roydon Park, Ness Gardens. Birkenhead Park is worth a visit, especially if you have small children (lots of ducks/geese on lakes, squirrels everywhere, wide paths for riding bikes/scooters, playgrounds, rocks for climbing). Good cafe with visitors centre and toilets. Very dog friendly at cafe too. West Kirby very dog friendly. Beach is great for dog walking - especially in winter. Long flat, sandy beach. They can run for miles! Many nice pubs and cafes dotted around. There's a nice one at Willaston in the old station - along part of the Wirral Way - great breakfasts. New Brighton is a bit cheesy, but lots of flat walking areas and a nice theatre with good cafe. Great for watching ships going in to Liverpool to dock. A trip on the famous Mersey ferry is a must if you'd never done it. Let's just be clear that the 'Ferry 'cross the Mersey' originated from Birkenhead, when monks from Birkenhead Priory used to row people across the river...not Liverpool (that's just what people think because of the song...I'm not bitter ;-D) Wirral's a great area to explore if you've never been.

You've got lovely villages, beaches, parks and city on the doorstep and views to mountains & hills of Wales and Yorkshire- what more could you want.

Living in the authentic Port Sunlight model village is an unique experience and, staying at 3 Duke of York cottage, with its comforts and modern amenities, will be a lasting memory. It is an ideal location for the wonderful art gallery, museums and theatre, and there is nearby access to trains and buses to Liverpool and the Wirral. We expected that parking would be a problem but rear street parking was always available.

Clean, warm, comfortable, spacious and well-equipped house. Handily located very near a supermarket, local shops, historic Port Sunlight and Merseyrail station. Easy parking on the road outside the house. Very clear pre-visit instructions from the very helpful host, Claire and very prompt communication. I would thoroughly recommend it as an excellent place to stay on the Wirral.
