Very easy to navigate, lovely, friendly people.

Very easy to navigate, lovely, friendly people. We ate at the Queens Head. The staff were really lovely and the food was fabulous and excellent value for money. My son played golf at Newbiggin and enjoyed his round there. The Northern Soul festival was on at Newbiggin on the Saturday and it was great to hear the wonderful music and see everyone having a fab time....even when it chucked it down!!

Newbiggin is a lovely old fishing village with a great history and a special place in the service of the local lifeboat. There is a lovely sandy bay and it is safe for swimming and boating. There are several good restaurants to visit including one at the end of a lovely walk along the promenade selling great fish and chips. An excellent Italian restaurant, Rossini, and a very good Indian restaurant too. Also lots of lovely small cafes for breakfasts and afternoon teas. A very relaxing place and well placed to visit many other attractions throughout Northumberland.

Newbiggin By The Sea is an attractive small seaside town popular with local residents and not overrun with tourists. There is an attractive beach on a sweeping bay with a number of pleasant cafes and restaurants. A highlight was a visit to the small maritime museum.

It depends what you're after.

It depends what you're after. Newbiggin by the sea is a small, fairly quiet place, like it says, by the sea and that's what we wanted. Really interesting costal walks along the King Charles III costal path in each direction which is rough it parts and, goes past some major industrial areas. Not your typical costal walk. Couple of routes to walk into Ashington, the nearest bigger town and to be honest, not a lot there. The route through the Queen Elizabeth country park is he best. Woodhorn Mining Museum well worth a visit. Walked round in 1/2 an hour but, found we spent another 3 hours in the visitor centre without realising, so much to see! We got the X21 bus to Newcastle. Flat fare of £2.50 at time of writing. Takes about 1 1/2 hours each way but interesting journey through all the wee towns and great day out in Newcastle.

This part of Woodhorn is a quiet residential area with lots of on-street parkinig used by the residents. Woodhorn as an easy drive to the Airport and to the City and of course to the lovely Northumbrian Coast.
