I love the easy way as self checked in and out. Location is superb. Theres so many malls and easy to get foods. Room was so clean, hopefully they maintain it. The decoration is simple and smart. And the staff so concerned towards the guest's comfortability.

Kinarut is a stop on only railway in Borneo.

Kinarut is a stop on only railway in Borneo. We took the train at 7:45am southbound from Tanjung Aru station. Can also be reached easily via GRAB from BKI, KK's international airport: 15 - 20 minutes. Kinarut was the location for a refugee camp for Vietnamese boat people in the 1970s. After the Vietnamese were relocated to USA and elsewhere, local refugees [Philippines; Indonesia] filled the camp. Area has a reputation for poverty, but we did not witness the camp. Strip of beach has a number of resorts which offer a variety of price points and services - all quite affordable.

Staff is very lovely. Swimming pool is great and private houses are very cute and comfortable. Good deal for the price. Restaurant food is good. 15 min drive from the airport in low traffic time. Beach is a little dirty with garbage that washes up from the ride, but the staff clean it regularly which is great.

Upgrade to units facing beach with own pool made this visit special. Other units are farther away and have their own pool. Food was excellent and varied. Nice wine cellar!
