Very clean and well organized, great location close to RDC. The building was new, well air conditioned, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The site was large and I saw wild birds and wild monkeys. In the early morning I saw more wild birds than RDC.

This place is a excellent base to see the Orangutans, Sun Bears and Rainforest Discovery Centre. We stayed 2 nights, one at the start, one at the end of our Kinabatangan River Cruise. Worked well, would recommend it to others.

Sepilok was amazing!

Sepilok was amazing! We highly recommend the RDC night walk and the Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary. We were able to admire these stunning creatures up close in a semi-wild environment, which was a truly memorable experience. We also loved the beautiful natural surroundings, with lots of birds and trees everywhere. We visited the orangutan centre as well, but unfortunately did not see many orangutans during the open feeding session. We were able to see a few more in the nursery area, although they were behind glass. Of course, we completely understand that this is beyond anyone’s control, as the animals decide whether or not to come out during feeding time. For food, we mainly ate at White House Restaurant, which is just a short walk away. The food was delicious and the prices were reasonable, although it was clear that the restaurant mainly caters to tourists and there are not many dining options around Sepilok. Getting around Sepilok can be a little challenging as there is no public transport. If your accommodation is located far from the main attractions, Grab can be a convenient option. However, for places such as the Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary, which is located further away near the bay, you will likely need to rent a car or arrange a driver. Some accommodations offer transport packages, but they can be slightly more expensive, so it may be worth contacting local drivers directly or arranging transport in advance.

Definitely a must stop before or after your Kinabatangan...

Definitely a must stop before or after your Kinabatangan River experience. We went to the afternoon feeding at 3pm for the Orangutan our first day which was so much quieter than the following mornings 10am feeding. We got to see a mother and baby at the big wild platform area which was amazing and we went to the sun bears which was just incredible and well worth spending enough time to watch the videos and wander around the viewing platforms. We also got to see the bears enjoying munching on some kumara and one was asleep up in the tree. The next morning we only saw one small male Orangutan at the wild feeding platform and a lot of monkeys! Take a grab to the RDC and enjoy walking in the canopy walkway and taking in the incredible trees and wildlife.

Orangutan rehab center was a bit disappointing as SOOOOOO...

Orangutan rehab center was a bit disappointing as SOOOOOO crowded and very strict staff moving you around and feeding platforms difficult to get a clear/close view due to location and crowds. I hear the afternoon feeding slot much more chilled as most people have a tour visit in the morning before hitting the river. We did a one day trip to the river but I think it would have been much more enjoyable and worthwhile, in terms of travel, to do the overnight options - so we regret not. The probiscis monkeys at Labuk Bay were a highlight and what I hoped the orangutan rehab centre would have been like. Chilled vibes and very close/varied feeding platforms. The DRC canopy walks and night walks (need to book in advance to avoid disappointment) also incredible highlights. Really felt like Borneo jungle in there.

This place is for those who like to be close to nature, added advantage if you have a rented car. The Sun Bear conservation centre and the Orangutan centre are a must, if you come all the way here. But can be quite costly for foreigners. Don't miss the feeding times, as that is the only time you can see them animals in good numbers. The Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey (35min away by car) is also another interesting place to visit.

The gardens are super beautiful, it feels like you stay in a jungle oasis, with lovely flowers and plants everywhere. We loved our little wooden chalet Bilit which had a big bath tub outside and a balcony looking out to the jungle, we even spotted orangutans from it - so cool! It’s very convenient that you can walk to the main spots in Sepilok and other hotels like the Banana cafe where we had a nice lunch.

Gorgeous room right in the jungle, it was so cool. Had air con and a fan. The door opened up to the balcony and the bathroom was outdoors but still super private. Only 10 mins to Sepilok / the sanctuaries and there’s a free shuttle with the hotel which was fab. Food was really good and cheap! Really enjoyed our night here.
