The room was the same as the pictures and felt cosy. The host was friendly and welcomed us warmly. What I like the most is the bathroom, which comes with a bathtub. The kitchen is small, but it has everything we need.

Beautiful place, quaint and quirky, with cosy restaurant complete with fireplace and bar. Lester the host was extremely welcoming, made us a great meal and offered suggestions of local walks. Kindly upgraded us to a room with private bathroom as that was available at no extra cost. Loved the massage chair, great place to stay after avalanche peak walk (15 mins drive further up Arthur's pass away from Christchurch but nice to drive that extra portion of road). Cheers Lester!

For travellers who are adventurous, social, and interested in a home stay with a kind, energetic and knowledgeable host, Eco Lodge is the place for you. While rustic, Eco Lodge is like a luxury mountain hut that you can drive to, with a beautiful view, private rooms, comfy beds, clean sheets and towels, hot showers, running water, and a fabulous host/chef, who provides delicious, freshly cooked meals (breakfast and dinner). While completely off the grid, solar power provides energy for lights, and charging devices. Wifi is also provided. Great hiking is at your doorstep, and quiet, peaceful sleeps await you after “family style” dinners. The lodge is all about shared spaces, meeting new people from around the world, and experiencing home away from home!

Stayed one night and it was recently redone and very comfortable. The community spaces felt like a comfortable home. Gerard and Vicki were friendly, kind, helpful, I can’t say enough good things about them. I needed to do laundry ($10 to wash and dry) and Vicky brought it up to me when it was done. One thing needed more drying and she graciously put it back in the dryer and brought it up to me again. Would have loved to stay longer and explore the beautiful Arthur’s Pass area.

Rustic yet charming. We loved this quaint little cabin in the mountains. The wood burner was such a plus. Made the place cozy and comfy! Enjoyed the birds in the morning!

Arthur’s Pass offers absolutely beautiful scenery,...

Arthur’s Pass offers absolutely beautiful scenery, especially along the drive—it’s one of those places where you’ll want to stop often just to take it all in. It’s definitely worth getting out of the car and exploring, with plenty of walking trails that showcase the stunning alpine landscape. A must-see stop is Castle Hill Rocks, which is truly unique and well worth the visit. The rock formations are incredible and make for a memorable experience. The Cave Stream walk is another highlight—an adventurous and fun experience for those prepared to get a little wet. There are also great Arthur’s Pass walking tracks that cater to different fitness levels, making it easy for everyone to enjoy the area. Highly recommend allowing extra time to explore this region properly.

Perfect for the time in transit.

Perfect for the time in transit. Unfortunately it rained and Devil’s Punchbowl was closed when we went! If more time, we would have loved to do more hiking! However we were lucky to see some Kea birds!

Small village with limited options for food and groceries. If you like walking/ hiking and scenery, you'll love it. We brought supplies and cooked ourselves one night and had a good meal at The Bealey Hotel ( 10mins drive) the other.

A very comfortable bed and large room.

A very comfortable bed and large room. Freindly and helpful hosts, allowed an early drop off of our bag (we arrived on the train) whilst they prepared our room. Large, well equipped, clean and tidy communal kitchen/dining room with TV. Place looks newly built. Highly recommend.

Gorgeous alpine area with lovely day walks.

Gorgeous alpine area with lovely day walks. The township area is very small but good as a place to do a few walks. We did the 13km, 6 hrs Bealey Spur walk about 13km drive from the township. We stopped at the hut and had a picnic on the lawn area under some trees) Incredible views over the snow capped mountains and valley with every type of vegetation along the way. Tiring but rewarding!! Lots of washed out tracks meant you needed to negotiate stones and a bit of wet areas . Rated as Medium , leave 5 hrs if you want to really enjoy the views and have a rest and lunch at the top. We are fit middle aged walkers- add an extra 1.5 hrs to go to the very top of the spur. One track in and out so you can’t get lost. Lots of shady areas and breezes.

This road trip was the most picturesque and unique of our 3 trips to new Zealand. The views of the snow capped mountains beside lakes and rivers, along with sheep and cattle grazing in green paddocks, along with pine forests made this a drive to remember. Vastle Hill/Kura Tawhiti Conservation area is worth a visit to walk around the limestone rock formations. The town itself is small but interesting. The walk to Devils Punchbowl is a must with the most stunning waterfall we have seen anywhere. The 800 or so steps are easily manageable unless you have bad hips or knees

A beautiful, cozy cottage set in a gorgeous location. Surrounded by snow covered peaks, rugged landscape, and wildlife. We had Kea visit everyday and we loved watching the rabbits hop around in the evening. The house is in a quiet location giving the peace and rest we needed. It was equipped with everything we needed. Very comfortable house in a gorgeous location. Arthur’s Pass is a delightful village with very generous locals. It is a hiker’s paradise and has become my favourite place in New Zealand.

This place offered me alot more than I expected. The place was really big and had more than enough room for me. The front entrance was quite decieving as it didn't look like much. But when I went to the 1st floor, was quite surprised to see how massive and luxury the place was. The kitchen was too good. The house had everything we need. Would definitely go again if I stay in Arthur's pass.

To be honest, given the remote location, we weren't expecting anything too much. However, my wife and I were extremely happy with our unit at Arthur's Pass Alpine Motel.... it well exceeded our expectations. We would gladly stay here again, and recommend to our friends to do likewise.
