Great location (there is traffic noise - but what do you expect when you are located next to a major road?!) Beautiful building. Gorgeous room and the 2 dining options are excellent.

This was a real find. The property was lovely including beautiful gardens. The apartment was spacious, well decorated and comfortable. The hosts went an extra mile and provided us with wonderful granola (looked and tasted home made) and cookes. The town of Greytown itself surprised us, full of lovely boutiques and good food. Everything about our stay exceeded our expectations.

We liked the historical touch of the building and its garden set up. We also loved the common facilities to all guests and the very familiar atmosphere of welcome and being taken care of. We warmly recommend this place for a stay in Greytown.

I liked Carterton, although it is not as stylish or as busy as nearby Greytown, where most tourists hang out. Really enjoyed the food at Balter Bar and Kitchen and I checked out the local op shop. Stonehedge is nearby and is a fascinating place to visit. Carterton is only about 9km from Greytown. It feels a bit more down to earth. Did some walking at the Waiohine Gorge. The suspension bridge is fun and the forest is incredible here. Might come back to see daffodils in September.

There is lots to see and do in Greytown/Carterton and Masterton is not far away. From cafes/restaurants to destination stores; rivers/hiking to exploring the area with wineries - you can plan a fabulous weekend/week away.

Situated at the foothills of the Tararua ranges allows for some nice walking/hiking options. A car is a must. A few good food options - perhaps the choices during the day are better. But Greytown is very close by and they have some good choices to dine out.

We came for the annual plant sale associated with the Carterton market (https://www.cartertonmarket.co.nz/). We stayed over 2 nights and Saturday ate at https://maps.app.goo.gl/vzu3LmPWonvvEFVx8 https://www.Balterbar.com. Excellent, friendly and quality food establishment. Easy to visit a range of things in the area from this base. We indulged at https://www.mrsblackwell.com/ Mrs Blackwell's bookshop in Greytown and https://pukaha.org.nz/ Pukaha National Wildlife Centre ..

We were just passing through to go to Martinborough, Lake Ferry and Cape Palliser the next day then on to Masterton. Visited a dear friend in Carterton and had dinner at their place so really didn't experience much of Carterton.

Very friendly place.

Very friendly place. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance from our accommodation. Like just across the road is Fish & Chips plus Chinese Takeaways. Supermarket just a few minutes away.
