I arrived later than I had hoped, just at sunset, and the location is just magical. One can look straight over the beach (with the famous boulders), and in the fading light, it did look rather nice. The property was much larger than anticipated and very easy to find. There are two large bedrooms, a very large lounge/kitchen and two bathrooms. I was alone, but I will definitely try to book again with my husband for a mini break. Everything was just perfect, in particular the location. Sadly, my plan of taking some nice night photos with the milkyway and the boulders did not eventuate as sea-fog was moving in but that did not matter. I still enjoyed my short one night stay.

This was a wonderful stay in an amazing setting. My wife could have spent the entire day in the oversized beanbag looking out the picture window at the ocean.

I loved everything about Waianakarua.

I loved everything about Waianakarua. The scenery, energy, the big spacious outdoor space was beyond me. The room I stayed in was dry, warm & safe. The owners were lovely and accomodating checking up daily on us. It’s a great stay of a spot for individual travel, couple travelling & also for families. The main kitchen & lounge area was gorgeous & comfortable & I will be back definitely.

We really liked the proximity to the river (a one minute...

We really liked the proximity to the river (a one minute walk), the friendliness & helpfulness of the owners. The accomodation did not match which was pictured on the website, which was mildly disappointing. Our accompanying bathroom was updated & clean. The bedroom, unfortunately because of its proximity to the kitchen smelled of cooking odours.

Loved the pretty grounds.

Loved the pretty grounds. Lodge rooms and beds were clean and tidy and comfortable. Everything was well maintained and clean. The hostess Janene was welcoming and helpful. We plan to come back with other family members, as unfortunately we were in transit and only stopped in as an overnight break in our journey. Have driven past here for years, without realising what a great wee spot it is.

The owners were very obliging and helpful ,with any questions I had,the spa pool was a bonus and very welcoming after having long walks. Nothing was a bother to them ,the setting of the campsite was so peaceful and a good family campsite ,with plenty of things for children to have a go on.I will return.I had food with me but one could travel a short distance to a takeaway shop.it is easy to travel around nearby forest areas at Herbert
