The Darfield hotel is pleasant and well located in central Canterbury between Christchurch and Arthur's Pass. There are scenic places to visit in the area including the great walkway at the Rakaia Gorge, for example. The hotel staff are always pleasant and helpful. The Pub and restaurant downstairs are very good. There is plenty of parking at and around the hotel.

Wonderful peaceful place, host was friendly, helpful, down to earth. Got the outdoor spa ready for us to soak in the stunning views of the mountains in the evening, would definitely stay again!

The property is huge, totally blew us away! We felt so welcomed - it is cozy and beautifully decorated. It feels like staying at a friend's place with much warmth and comfort. Everything was outstanding and we are so grateful for such an opportunity to stay in this beautiful place. The property cannot be seen from the main road, it is tucked away at the back of a house. Look out for the house no. on a roadside electric pole and drive into the alley to the end. Property is on the left. Gessie and family live there, hence, check-in was effortless.

It was an extremely spacious room with an entire living room and three bedrooms almost felt like a large condo. Very clean and efficient and I will definitely stay there again.

This is the type of property which usually gets high marks. It is a farm, located in an isolated area, very quiet and serene. There are several buildings and apartments available for rent. Although we didn't personally meet the host, everything went smooth and we felt great. They offer a fine dining restaurant, but it was closed when we arrived.
