I had an absolutely wonderful stay at African Bungalows in Nungwi, Zanzibar. This cozy gem exceeded all my expectations. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, always going above and beyond to make sure guests feel at home. The food is absolutely delicious, every meal was a treat! The hotel is nestled in a beautiful garden that creates a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere with a lovely pool. And the hotel is just a one minute walk to the stunning beach. The rooms are clean, offering everything you need for a comfortable stay and the bed was very comfortable, I had the best sleep in a long time. Another standout feature is the generator so you never have to worry about power interruptions. If you’re looking for a perfect spot for relaxation with excellent food and service in Zanzibar, I highly recommend African Bungalows. I’ll definitely come back!

The resort is a 10 out of 10. Luxury at its best! The staff were extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful. Everything was meticulous and the attention to detail was impressive. Chef Keith went above and beyond and took us on the most amazing culinary experience. He has incredible talent and made our stay even better than we could ever imagine. Hands down best resort in Zanzibar!

The beach size is very dependant on the tides.

The beach size is very dependant on the tides. During high tide, the beaches in Nungwi are very fragmented, and we could only get between beaches via other beachfront hotel property, often escorted by suspicious security. On the last day, we discovered Kendwa which is a much larger beach area. Be prepared for a lot of touts! And a lot of Masai hanging around, staring. sometimes rather uncomfortable.

Well, Nungwi is about 58km from Stone town.

Well, Nungwi is about 58km from Stone town. It has the finest sand that is as soft as baby powder. The water is very clear, so one can easily swim in it. We did quite a number of activities, including the transparent kayak, Jetcar ride, Sea Walking, etc..

Nungwi ended up being one of our favourite areas in Zanzibar...

Nungwi ended up being one of our favourite areas in Zanzibar. The beaches are beautiful, there are plenty of little bars and restaurants to explore and it has a great atmosphere without feeling overly commercial. We visited in May during low season and while a number of places around Zanzibar were closed or very quiet, Nungwi still had plenty happening. It felt like one of the few areas on the island that maintained some energy year-round and we could only imagine how vibrant it would be during peak season. Every evening the beach would come alive with locals and tourists enjoy the sunset, creating a really authentic and charming atmosphere. If you’re looking for beautiful beaches, plenty of dining options and a bit more life and activity than some other parts of Zanzibar, Nungwi is definitely worth visiting.

I visited the Baraka Natural Aquarium.

I visited the Baraka Natural Aquarium. For the nightlife, I got to have a night out at Cocobello. Ate Biriani and Pilau from a local restaurant. It is very easy to get around Nungwi with friendly and kind people. There are a lot of activities such as turtle feeding, visiting the zoo, Jet ski, Snorkeling, Beach Walk, Quad bike ride, Cycling among other things.

The beaches an Nungwi are beautiful with warm, clear water and cool rock formations. You can find lovely seashells all over. There are a lot fo restaurants nearby and tour operators to reserve your next adventure. The drawback is that you will encounter a lot of people trying to sell things or services, and it can be a bit too much when you are trying to just go for a walk or rest. But overall, it is a quite lovely and charming beach/town.

Nungwi is a lively beach with many tourists.

Nungwi is a lively beach with many tourists. It offers plenty of options for accommodation, food, and entertainment. You can clearly feel the tide changes there, but the sea and the beach are beautiful, with white sand and crystal-clear waters. The only thing I didn’t like was the number of vendors and locals constantly trying to sell tours, bracelets, crafts, and other activities, as they really don’t leave you alone for a moment. Overall, it is a highly recommended beach.

Best hotel in Zanzibari 😍😍 we spent our honeymoon there everything was perfect. Great rooms with super kind service, food is really tasty, nice pool with view and access directly to beach when it’s low tide. The personal are very friendly and sweet. We did book all the activities in the reception. Taxi available whenever we needed. Wifi everywhere in the hotel. A big up to John in the reception he really nailed it. I highly recommend this hotel 😍🙏🏼❤️

Mykonos vibes in Zanzibar:). Very beautifully decorated and You really feel like in paradise. The staff at the reception and the restaurant are really nice! Very kind and friendly! The room was so clean and the linens smelled very nice. Really good food quality in the restaurant, very well cooked and super tasty! The breakfast was so so so good and fresh. Beach and all shorts of local stores/restaurants within a couple of minutes walk. Super location!

We have miniscule to no remarks on our experience at Canary. The staff was extremely helpful; John really assisted us greatly. On our last day in Zanzibar (after checkout) we were allowed to shower at their facilities, so we could spend the day at the beach. The room was clean, comfortable and a lovely place to rest. We didn't try the breakfast or restaurant, so we don't know about that.

Very nice place. It’s quiet, clean, the beds are huge and comfortable. There is a very nice living room area, hot water shower and a generator when there is power outage which seems to happen quite often in Zanzibar. There is a safe for your valuables, and each door has a lock code to enter. Very close to the beach and restaurants.
