Almost two weeks at The Nest in Pongwe and it was one of our best holidays. The location is perfect for relaxation, peace, and feeling safe, while still allowing you to experience the authentic side of Zanzibar. Cleanliness is excellent, the rooms are well maintained, and all of them have an ocean view, which is a big plus. The Infinity pool is beautiful and ideal for relaxing moments, overseeing the ocean. The food is very good, and the staff is extremely friendly, welcoming, and helpful, especialy Stephan the Chief of staff. He provided great recommendations for local attractions such as the Spice Farm and the Stone Town tour, and also helped organize excursions, including an unforgettable Mikumi Safari. The airport transfer was well organized by Stephan. Overall, The Nest in Pongwe is a wonderful choice for couples looking for a relaxing and intimate stay. We highly recommend it and would happily return. Excellent value for money!

Located between Paje and Bweju with direct access to the beach

The whole staff at the hotel is extremely friendly and helpful, l loved how peaceful this place was, it was so serene spending days in this place, even after leaving it l wished l could still go back and be moving around zanzibar from this hotel

The best of the best glory was lovely

We were upgraded to a premium room which had a terrific view of the beach & ocean and a large balcony with lounge chairs. Our room was spacious with a comfortable large bed. The bathroom was a good size with 2 sinks. There were plenty of towels, both for the bath and the beach. We also greatly enjoyed the swimming pool. The food in the restaurant was excellent. The co-owner and manager kindly assisted us with booking a snorkel trip.

Staying at this beachfront hotel in Zanzibar was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. The location alone is stunning waking up to the sound of the ocean and stepping onto soft white sand felt like something out of a dream. What truly made the stay exceptional, though, was the food and the staff. The meals were consistently fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. From local Zanzibari dishes rich in spices to international options, every meal felt thoughtfully prepared. The seafood, in particular, was outstanding clearly fresh from the ocean and cooked to perfection. Equally impressive was the staff. Everyone was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming without ever being intrusive. They went out of their way to make sure every detail was taken care of, always greeting us with smiles and making us feel completely at home. Their hospitality added a personal touch that elevated the entire experience. If you’re looking for a relaxing beach getaway with amazing food and truly caring service, this hotel is an excellent choice.

We enjoyed everything about the guesthouse: relaxed atmosphere, wonderful homemade food, access to the beach, safety, cleanliness, hospitality, also it is a very cozy and nice looking home. Margaret knows a lot about the island and local culture, and cares about supporting the community. We liked that the guesthouse is far from the touristic areas, though you can have any excursion from there upon your interests. Zanzibari curries were delicious, lobster and seafood barbecue was awesome. We went to sunset sailing once and took a trip for swimming with dolphins, we were lucky to see a big group of them! If we come back to Zanzibar on holidays, we don’t need to look for another place to stay, for sure. Thank you Mags 🩷

Amazing place Good price Good location Good stuff

Well located in Central Serengeti, within intra-day range to both the Northern Serengeti and the Mara River crossing, and the Southern plains. Exceptionally caring and responsive staff. Excellent support in organizing activities and logistics, highly recommended for travellers not relying on tour operator packages.

I had an absolutely wonderful stay at African Bungalows in Nungwi, Zanzibar. This cozy gem exceeded all my expectations. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, always going above and beyond to make sure guests feel at home. The food is absolutely delicious, every meal was a treat! The hotel is nestled in a beautiful garden that creates a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere with a lovely pool. And the hotel is just a one minute walk to the stunning beach. The rooms are clean, offering everything you need for a comfortable stay and the bed was very comfortable, I had the best sleep in a long time. Another standout feature is the generator so you never have to worry about power interruptions. If you’re looking for a perfect spot for relaxation with excellent food and service in Zanzibar, I highly recommend African Bungalows. I’ll definitely come back!
