We felt warmly welcomed at check-in, with excellent service right from the start. The waterfront views from our room were stunning — we could see surfers riding waves and boats gliding across the sea just yards away. The hotel also has great shops inside, making it convenient and enjoyable to explore.

Very friendly and polite staff, great amenities, great complimentary activities (while we were there, there was a wine degustation event with a piano concert, a movie night on the rooftop terrace, a yoga class and many more) and overall an excellent location. The room we stayed in was well organized, very clean and yes, the Japanese toilet was a highlight as well :)

The staff was friendly, helpful, and courteous. The housekeeping staff was like a hive of bees. They kept our room in tip-top shape, even when I tried to give them a break and told them that they could skip us for a day. Also, they kept us plied with coffee, which was a delight for me. The restaurant, the Maui Brewing Company, was superb. There was an entrance directly from the hotel, and they supplied us with a discount card to sweeten the choice. The location is in the heart of Waikiki. It would be impossible not to love the positioning, as one is right in the heart of the city.

FAQs about hotels in Honolulu

A True Water Sports Paradise

Standing proudly on the island of Oahu in the Pacific Ocean, Honolulu is the Hawaiian capital, meaning "a sheltered bay." Spreading along the white sandy beaches and supported by the strong back of the volcanic mountains, it's a real island paradise.

Honolulu's most popular and famous district, Waikiki, features the stunning Waikiki Beach decorated with hundreds of surfboards, palms and lounge chairs. It’s also a center for the city’s nightlife and shopping, especially along Kalakaua and Kuhio Avenues.

As the most popular activities in Honolulu include surfing, snorkeling, canoeing and other water sports, it's no surprise the city has a number of sandy beaches. Try Hanauma Bay, a crescent-shaped beach with rolling, green hills behind it.

For fans of hiking and exploring, nature awaits at Diamond Head Mountain, a volcanic tuff cone where you can admire the panoramic view of the city. There is also the Bishop Museum with the world’s largest collection of Hawaiian and Pacific artifacts and the Waikiki Aquarium with over 490 species of marine fauna and flora.

From hotels near Honolulu International Airport to hotels near the beach, Booking.com has plenty of properties, from cheap to luxury, for your Honolulu trip.

I didn't care for the check-in process.

I didn't care for the check-in process. The Front Desk Clerk was wonderful--friendly and helpful. However, apparently there was a duplicate booking for 2 additional rooms under Expedia. I had no communication with Expedia WHATSOEVER, yet the Front Desk Manager made me feel that I was at fault because the Expedia reservation arrived 1 day prior to Booking.com's reservation. After researching the problem online, I realized that Coconut Waikiki's Channel Manager software did not block Expedia's reservation offer making it seem like I'd booked 2 additional rooms through Expedia which I did not. In addition, I checked my Expedia account for Coconut Waikiki's Expedia confirmation number and found none whatsoever. A pretty upsetting experience.

My family are from Honolulu.

My family are from Honolulu. There has been many changes with the city including but not limited to the homeless situation, unfinished construction of projects, and general crowding and traffic concerns. The access to the Diamond Head trail seems reasonable-online reservation with a small charge for parking and entrance to the park. The Hanauma Bay had similar reservations, but I did not have time for this trip.

So much dirtier than it used to be, Waikiki is not the same, so many homeless in the area, so much drug use. It is not the same as even 5 years ago. So sad to see such a beautiful place get so run down, feels much more dangerous than it ever did before.

I was there for work but still got to see a bit of everything you want from Hawaii. The touristy things are touristy for a reason, it was all worth it for me. Do some tours, the guides always know a lot and take you where you won't go otherwise. Do a couple of hikes, go on a snorkeling tour to see turtles and go on a tour around the island or at least to another coast. And of course enjoy the relaxing beaches, Ala Moana was my absolute favourite, with the garden and Magic Island. Also have some poke with tuna, even the cheaper ones are amazing! And remember the buses work pretty well and have AC.

A family trip, ages ranging from 71 to 1½ .

A family trip, ages ranging from 71 to 1½ . Waikiki is vibrant and busy with some great beaches, ocean swimming and within easy reach of some great attractions eg. Pearl Harbour. Spoiled for choice for great eateries however, most don’t seem to accept reservations and you are left having to queue for over 40 minutes in some cases only to be told that a table might become available in an hour; with 2 small children in our party, reliability in being able to get them fed is key

Super location, right on Waikiki beach and Ft. DeRussy. Tons of restaurants, cafes and shopping, both souvenirs and groceries, ever a Starbucks right next door. Kind of expensive but that is Hawaii, not a function of the hotel. Front desk was very helpful.
