This was truly the best farm stay we’ve ever experienced. The host was exceptionally friendly and welcoming, even taking the time to give us a guided tour of the property and the farm itself. The location is ideal, situated just a short drive from Aquila Private Game Reserve, making it easy to combine relaxation with adventure. The accommodation is spacious, thoughtfully maintained, and very comfortable — a perfect retreat for anyone looking to enjoy both tranquility and convenience

The facility had so much to offer. We loved meeting other travelers and watched a Rugby game on an outside TV. Behind us was a wonderful seating area and a wood burning oven because the outside temperatures were in the low 50th (11C). The breakfast / dining area was wonderful and the food as excellent! There also us an outside black nature pool with was an experience, great! We also loved our accommodation which had heating blankets already in our beds, a split heating / AC unit that was working well plus a wood burning oven which we didn’t use. The lodge was decorated tastefully and very inviting. The office had excellent and very helpful staff (thank you Lionel you were fantastic and we loved speaking to you and learning about your wonderful country.) Overall, this spontaneous getaway was exceptional and we didn't want to leave. We will be back.

Very nice place to stay in and have some quality time with your beloved ones. we came to do the Safari game drive in that area, we loved the experience of staying in a tent! Very very clean, AC is working perfectly! Water is running perfectly.. it is a gated place so you feel safe.

The rooms were nice, and clean, and the beds very comfortable. There was nowhere to walk. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The pool was big and very clean. Lovely big fire in the dining room but food overpriced. It looks as if they cater for children. Big play area and lolts of toys in the lounge area. 8km from Touwsrivier so a good place for a one night stop.

Rating: 1/10 We booked Aquila Private Game Reserve expecting a premium safari experience, but unfortunately our stay was severely disappointing and fell far below expectations. The safari itself was significantly impacted when our game vehicle broke down, disrupting one of the main reasons we had chosen this property. For a reserve that markets itself around the safari experience, this was extremely disappointing. The accommodation raised even more serious concerns. We encountered sewage-contaminated water in the bathroom area, which was both unhygienic and unacceptable for any hotel, let alone one marketed as a premium destination. To make matters worse, there were ongoing building and construction works taking place during our stay. The noise and disruption detracted considerably from the atmosphere and enjoyment of the reserve. Had we been informed of these works in advance, we would have reconsidered our booking. The combination of a failed safari experience, sewage issues within the accommodation, and significant construction disturbance meant that the holiday we received was very different from the one advertised and paid for. Following our complaint, compensation was offered, which in our view acknowledges that the experience fell below the expected standard. However, given the extent of the issues encountered, we do not believe the offer adequately reflects the disappointment and disruption caused. The staff we dealt with were polite, but unfortunately this could not overcome the fundamental problems we experienced during our stay. Based on our experience, we would not return and could not recommend the property unless these issues have been fully resolved.

Just loved the game drives and seeing all the animals and...

Just loved the game drives and seeing all the animals and the guides very informative. Had a great couple of hours in the Spa. Food was really good. We rented 2 Karoo cottages which were quite nice. Draw back was that we could not enjoy our outside area to relax as a drain or something kept backing up and flooding the patio. Besides that all was good.

A lot of the pricing in this area doesn’t feel set with...

A lot of the pricing in this area doesn’t feel set with locals in mind at all. Everywhere you go seems aimed at tourists, and it ends up feeling like a bit of a tourist trap. Even basic things are surprisingly expensive, which makes it hard to enjoy the area without constantly feeling like you’re being overcharged.

We stayed 2 nights and enjoyed our stay.We had a lovely relaxing day on the second day. We would stay again if in the area. It is value for money. We didn't visit Touwsriver apart from the journey to the from Njalo Njalo. We saw some old trains in the town which were interesting.

Tranquility but the roads was not good at all.

Tranquility but the roads was not good at all. For non residents of Cape Town you should take into account that it is quite far from Cape Town centre and the price for Transport transfers are very high. Please do not try Aquila the price is relatively very very high and not worth it.
