Great location and amazing views from the hotel. Room service was very responsive and acted quickly, even at night

The location is a 15-20min ride from the city but the community is peaceful. The place is well maintained and rooms were silent. Rooms were cleaned everytime you asked them. Sheets were replaced every 3 days which is understandable. The dining area was well lit and had a homey vibe. The breakfast had a huge selection. It definitely had a good value for money. Staffs were polite and good in english. We didn't had difficulty communicating with them. I think the price for the stay is exceptional since it has anything you need for a hotel. The prices on their restaurant was decent.

The room and bed are comfortable. If I come back to Almaty one day, I will stay here again.

Exceptional !!! We had a great stay. Mr. Ilyas the receptionist was so kind and helpful during our stay. The breakfast was great. Good locations also and keep the hotel and rooms always clean. Resident City Hotel is highly recommended.

Before there was another hotel there, now it’s totally different. I adore to stay at the new and recently renovated hotels. New pillows, new bathrooms, everything is new! As a bonus where is amazing view of the mountains! Breakfast was pretty cosy as well!

The hotel is very convenient, located right in the city center — everything is within walking distance. The rooms are spacious and clean, and the service is excellent. The staff is friendly, attentive, and always ready to help. 🫶 The hotel truly lives up to its name — it’s cozy and comfortable in every way. We came all the way from Canada and would like to express our sincere gratitude for such warm hospitality here in Kazakhstan. 🇰🇿❤️ We highly recommend this hotel! Location is great! It’s walking distance to Dostyk Plaza, Eurasia trading center and US Consulate.

Everything was excellent. We arrived early due to our flight schedule, but since the hotel was fully booked, we were unable to check in early. However, they provided luggage storage, which allowed us to have breakfast and start our first day’s tour without any hassle. The room was always clean, with complete toiletries that were regularly replenished. The lady at the reception was especially helpful, and the entire staff was very responsive to our requests. Whatever we needed, they always went the extra mile to assist us. The location was also excellent—close to restaurants, cafés, and money exchange shops, making everything very convenient during our stay.

Overall, it is a fabulous hotel with an enviable location While the decor may possibly be considered as somewhat dowdy and dated, the rooms are incrediblely spacious and super comfortable Best of all were the staff. Everyone was eager to help and their command of English was high They helped me resolve all my issues

The service and location of hotel was great. The staff was always helpful toward when we asked for some additional service and we're deeply thankful to everyone. Whats funny is that for breakfast, some of the meals that was services was more for lunch, but again the food was amazing so really can't complain.

you can tell it’s a new hotel. really enjoyed our stay! exceeded my expectations. the front desk were very welcoming, always willing to help, also spoke good english so that was convenient for us! restaurant was amazing, never tried such tender beef, servers were very polite and attentive. the hotel also has a spa zone, it was very relaxing, the pool was decent size. housekeeping also were very attentive, caring. overall everyone was eager to help! the location is perfect for sightseeing, exploring. it’s a yes from me!

I chose Otrar Hotel because I wanted to experience a piece of Almaty’s history rather than just another modern hotel, and it truly felt like walking down memory lane. The vintage Soviet-era interiors, grand lobby and old USSR charm have been preserved, giving the hotel a unique character that is becoming increasingly rare. Otrar was once one of Almaty’s most prominent hotels, and staying here feels like experiencing a small part of the city’s past. Its location opposite Panfilov Park and the Ascension Cathedral makes it perfect for exploring the historic centre on foot. For the price, the stay was excellent, the breakfast was good, and I felt it offered great value. If you appreciate history, nostalgia and authentic character over modern luxury, Otrar Hotel is absolutely worth it.

All facilities, rooms were nice, clean and comfortable. However, it was very noisy and totally not recommended for people who want to have a peaceful night sleep. Except the noise all were perfect.
