Location. And great water pressure

This was my first time staying in a hostel. I have a medical condition too but unbelievably the stay at Haka Lakefront was like home away from home for me. Starting from the staff, all were very warm, courteous and welcoming. Being a female I preferred a female dorm but some mix up at my end and I ended up in a mixed dorm of 3 beds. Not only was the bed comfortable (for a person who has a backache issue) but I felt safe. The bathrooms were easily accessible, clean, well stocked with basic things like body wash and toilet rolls in the toilets. Not once did I feel inconvenienced. The communal kitchen is huge and does not feel crowded. Its clean. There is ample place to keep your foodstuff in the freezer or fridge. Moreover the water from the taps is pure and don't need filtering. For a person who never has tap water but only filtered; this worked out very well. The hostel is very close to downtown and just opposite the lake with a nice foreshore for walks and to hang out. Kudos to the staff who helped me park my vehicle in the disabled parking due to my medical condition. The night that I reached the staff (female) helped me carry my heavy suitcase up to my room and took care to see I was helped. Just grateful for the good experience at Haka Lakefront, Queenstown and made my first trip to NZ very warm and welcoming. From Brisbane, Australia

The location is next to the Intercity bus stop, supermarket, all kinds of cafe shops and eateries, and within walking distance to popular hikes. I loved everything about this place! The staff was friendly, the girls in my dorm were so quiet and considerate at night, my pod had sufficient space and privacy, and the rooftop was excellent for some reading and work. Bathrooms clean. The best hostel I’ve ever stayed in.

Super comfortable beds and nice rooms! The views were spectacular and the staff were very accommodating! You couldn’t ask for a better location in Queenstown.

Staff and location were excellent

Location & View Location is right in the center of Queenstown. After getting a burger, coffee, little shopping, I could go back to hostel and put all in the room or enjoyed the burger and then had a easy walk without carrying stuff. So good to have my own space with such beautiful lake view in Queenstown. Within 5 mins walk to the bus stop heading to airport.

I stayed here for two nights in mid-May 2026 and really enjoyed my stay. The bed was very comfortable, and everything was clean and tidy. There was free parking nearby from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m., which made things very convenient.

24 hour reception and breakfast buffet. Hot tub felt amazing after a long day. Stay out of trouble… if you can

This property is in a perfect location and very close to lots of shops and restaurants. Haka House is a great accommodation for the money and I fully recommend!

Location is at the walking distance to the downtown of Queenstown. There is a kitchen at the hotel.

The Flaming Kiwi is a great place to meet amazing people and, above all, to relax. You can do both here! The first time I stayed was in 2016, and I’ve been coming back ever since. The hostel has everything you need, and the staff is absolutely fantastic, shoutout to Kent and Emilia! If you’re going to Queenstown, please don’t stay anywhere else. I’ve stayed in other hostels, but this one gives you the full combo of goodness! I can’t wait to come back!
