A number of larger supermarkets, including a Marks & Spencer Food Hall can be found in the historic town of Berwick-upon-Tweed (15 miles), or picturesque Kelso (9 miles) which has an excellent selection of independent shops set around a Flemish-style market square. For eating out, the Wheatsheaf at Swinton (3.5 miles) or the Inn at Allanton (9 miles) are both renowned for serving dishes full of fresh local flavours amidst relaxed, convivial surroundings. Alternatively, the Collingwood Arms at Cornhill (7 miles) is an elegant setting for lingering lunches or fine evening dining.
