The current owners, Andy and Tanya Downes, purchased Dunkery Beacon Country House in November 2022 with a focus on offering a high quality bed & breakfast experience in a wonderful part of West Somerset. Our accommodation epitomises the best in British country house sophistication. As hands-on owners we will greet you on arrival and oversee every aspect of your stay from housekeeping to breakfast service to advice on things to do and places to eat. Our aim is to create an atmosphere that is welcoming, relaxing and refreshing and with our ensuite bedrooms we provide a superior level of comfort with fantastic views across the Exmoor National Park to Dunkery Beacon itself.

Our wonderful Exmoor country house offers luxury bed & breakfast accommodation in a boutique hotel style. Wake up to a hearty breakfast and truly breath-taking views that stretch across the hills and moors. We are situated in Wootton Courtenay, an historic and beautiful village set amid stunning unspoilt countryside, accessed via quiet country lanes near to Dunster, Minehead and Porlock. After a day full of interest and activity, why not relax once again in our south facing lounge, on our veranda or sit in our lovely gardens with a pot of tea or something stronger from our licenced bar. Dunkery Beacon Country House is a former Edwardian hunting lodge, with eight luxuriously appointed and individually decorated rooms, seven ensuite and another with its own private bathroom. One of the bedrooms we have is located on the ground floor, so ideal for people with limited mobility or with dogs. Children 10 years of age and over are also welcome with well-behaved adults! Please note there is no lift at the property.
