Just a stones throw from historic York, The Old Forge is a perfect little hideaway in the gorgeous Yorkshire countryside and a unique opportunity to get away from it all. With undisturbed views and private access to its own wooded area, large pond and jetty, you’ll have a piece of paradise all to yourself. The property sits on the edge of a popular bridleway, providing excellent opportunity for scenic strolls and bicycle rides. And just steps from your front door, there is a free and fully enclosed dog park. The toilet and shower are located just a few steps away in your own private wing of the main Farmhouse, with its very own private entrance, and for your exclusive use.

Hi, we're Lisi and Daniel! We love travelling, and have tried to make The Shire a combination of the things that we loved most in the places we have stayed around the globe, to give you the most memorable experience possible.

Situated on the edge of Bishop Wilton, a quaint little village in East Riding, with its own Pub and volunteer run Community Shop. For extra adventure you wont have to go far, with historic York just 14 miles away, and the famous Yorkshire Moors just 24 miles. Or for a day out at the beach, the seaside towns of Flamborough, Scarborough and Whitby sit just 30 miles away. You'll never be short of options.
