Lovely cottage on three floors. Very comfortable. Lovely reception from Jackie, who gave us good recommendations for a local walk and where to eat. So nice to meet a real person, not just a key box! Excellent breakfast. Very good value. Many thanks.

Lovely comfortable BnB. All the little extras in the room biscuits, every type of beverage even a lovely slice of coffee cake, very welcome after watching England win the football at the local pub. Fabulous breakfast with everything you could...

Quirky, comfortable accommodation with wonderful breakfast and a very charming host in Jackie. One of the best B&Bs we’ve stayed in and we would recommend Lamb Cottage to anyone looking for accommodation in the area. Exceptional value.

Lamb Cottage is a 16th century property in the AONB village of Box, Wiltshire, it retains most of its original features with semi spiral wooden staircases, sloping ceilings in the loft space, beautiful wooden beams, inglenook fireplaces and mullion windows. The garden to the front has two ponds and has a few seating areas with specimen trees and plants. One particular Acer tree is much admired by visitors. This sits proud in front of the cottage. The Bedroom is a double bedroom and includes a King Size bed, Tea and coffee making facilities, 48" TV, and WiFi. The bathroom is on the top floor in the loft space completely self contained to the bedroom. We provide bubbles, bath bombs and bath robes for a relaxing experience. On the ground floor in the Dining Room breakfast is served. The dining room has a Bean to cup coffee maker for you to enjoy, fridge and toaster. Breakfast (only) is served here. We offer a varied choice of breakfast food to keep you going throughout the day. Unfortunately due to the age and design of the cottage it is not suitable for wheelchair users or anyone with mobility issues with stairs. Parking is on street, outside of property. There are no parking restrictions and it is free. Sometimes you might have to walk a few yards to the property but not usual.
I have had a very diverse career, spent in retail (owning our own wine business), the hospitality trade and latterly retiring from the Mininistry of Defence where I worked as a Facilities Manager. I am now semi retired and looking forward to undertaking another direction. I love to entertain, hosting many dinner parties and functions. People keep coming back so I must be doing something right. A warm welcome is assured when you visit.
Box is a relatively small village and is surrounded by beautiful walks via the Box brook or the woods. The stunning recreation grounds provides Tennis Courts, Bowls and cricket/football pitches plus children's play areas. One of its most famous features is Box Tunnel built by the famous Isombard Kingdom Brunel. Real World Recording Studios is also tucked away in the village and is owned by Peter Gabriel of Genesis fame. It has a village pub The Queens Head is 16th century and overlooks the recreation ground (in the summer you can watch a game of cricket whilst enjoying a drink or two). The pub is also well known for its music venues which are very popular. In the village we have Two restaurants, the Bengal Bear an Indian and the Vine and Plate serves Bulgarian and Mediterranean cuisine. The Northey Arms is a public house with a restaurant. This is a ten minute walk away or 2 mins in a car. Box is also home to a Londis food store, Post Office, Chemist, 2 hairdressers and 2 cafes all within walking distance of the cottage. For a small village it has much to offer but retains its country feel. Box is located 6 miles from the beautiful Georgian City of Bath and our cottage is 2 minutes from a bus route which runs every 1/2 hour. Many other local sites include Corsham, famous for its 16th century Corsham Court with its park designed by Capability Brown, Laycock with its famous Abbey, Castle Combe, widely considered one of England's prettiest villages and Bradford on Avon built from money from the wool trade. Bradford has beautiful canal walks and a stunning Tithe barn amongst many other things to see and do. Within an hours drive is Stonehenge, Avebury, Longleat, Marlborough and many other stunning villages and sights. Wiltshire really has so much to offer.
