Lowther House is open, please contact us. We are open Just a click please contact us.... We are just a three minute drive (or a slow 15 minute walk) from Pickering town centre however, the property is nestled between secluded woodland, fields and our lovely garden. Just to add to the tranquillity Pickering Beck runs babbling past us on one side. Our garden is a lovely place to sit quietly and view the great variety of wild birds who visit the garden, including our regular Woodpecker and Nuthatch. You can also see steam trains, from the NYMR, as they pass by quite close. Lowther House is approximately 200 years old and belongs to the Duchy of Lancaster. Though she is an 'elderly lady', a bit creaky here and there, she has a warm, comfortable atmosphere. We think it is the perfect place to unwind. There are several walks you can go on which pass right outside our garden gate should you wish to stray a little!! Please be informed that from May to the end of September we do not receive a television signal due to our location alongside a ridge with a wooded area, when the leaves block out all hope of watching TV, however we do have a large selection of DVD's for you to watch. ** We only allow one SMALL Dogs, please contact us before making your booking. An additional charge for your dog each night (payment on arrival ).**
Elliot & Carole come to Lowther House with a wealth of exerience behind them. They have both worked in the hospitalaity field between catering and hotel management. They have long cherished the dream of welcoming people into their own guest house, making them feel relaxed and at home. Lowther House has given them the opportunity to fullfil this dream.
Situated between the Moors, the coast and the history of York and surrounding areas, Lowther House is the ideal place to stay as you can strike out in just about any direction and bump into something interesting!! There are steam trains to ride, walks to go on, many birds to watch and the whole area is steeped in history. We are close to Eden Camp, the Folk Museum, numerous historic houses, Lavender farms - too many attractions to list. It is almost impossible to get bored here!!
