Highlights include the 13th-century Church of St Thomas Becket, ancient stocks and cross in the Market Place, and the stone cottages of Church Brow—a steep cobbled street described as “Chapel’s answer to Gold Hill.” Church bells ring out on Tuesdays and Sundays, adding to its quiet charm. Nearby Eccles Pike, with its pink gritstone summit, offers breath-taking 360-degree views. Just seven miles away is the renowned spa town of Buxton, celebrated for its therapeutic spring water, Pavilion Gardens, and splendid Victorian Opera House, which hosts a variety of shows attracting visitors from around the globe. A short drive will take you to numerous attractions, including the stately homes of Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, and Lyme Hall.
