It was one of the better very small inns in the countryside that we stayed at. The bed was large and comfortable. The rooms are above a pub so some noise will leak through and some noise from the outside picnic tables can also be heard. We were there when it was cool so nobody was outside once the sun started down and the temperature dropped. The staff is great, we were leaving early in the morning before breakfast and they gave us some food to put in our fridge for the morning. The stairs are a bit narrow for us Americans and our larger luggage, the outside, back steps were easier to use when we left. There is onsite parking in the rear which is nice. We were there on a Sunday and had the Sunday Roast which was very large, good and filling. If you need a place to stay in Castleton, I would highly recommend it.

Lovely place.

Lovely place. Go to the great visitor centre for tips for walks & visits. Go up Mam Tor. Eat great food, drink local ales and do pub quizzes in all the pubs in the village! Friendly people but very busy place at the weekend.

Great beer at The Swiss House - Other places did not have real ales that suited us. Everything is easily accessible and the AC/DC concert at the cave was excellent. There are plenty of pubs there so there will be something suitable for everyone. We ate at the Bulls Head on our first night and the Nags Head on the second. I would say that the meal at The Nags Head was a better portion size and very tasty even though we enjoyed our other meal. Peveril Bakery was excellent and there are plenty of cafes around. The bus station was very useful and fairly busy. Overall a good stay and we may return one day.

We liked the easy access to the wonderful walks and views. Plenty of pubs to visit and gift shops, jewellers to wander around. Easy access by road to Bakewell and other towns. If you have an international palate you may have to visit other towns as mostly traditional English fare in Castleton.

I’m biased as love Castleton and been coming for years but...

I’m biased as love Castleton and been coming for years but would recommend to anyone, the village , castle , great pubs , walks and views plus the caves. I came up to see a couple of gigs at the devils arse which is a unique location .

Our visit to Castleton was for a gig in Peak Cavern which I can definitely recommend. Amazing space for a gig. The village is lovely, plenty of places to eat. The only problem I had with the village is that there was nowhere there to buy a newspaper. I had to drive to the next village Hope but that was only about a 5 or so minute drive.

We visited the blue John Cave, the lovely shops, Peveril castel an cave dale.stayed for 5 days. It is the holiday in pril/May and we came from holland. It was not crowded of toerists and the temperature was fine. The people are nice and helpfull and castleton is cosy and a calm town. Good for hiking and bicycling. The food is good in the restaurants!

The property was at the centre of the Castleton village with many restaurants, pubs, Peveril Castle and the visitor centre at walking distance. The room was as shown in pics with a private bathroom, clean bedsheets, towels, TV, free wifi. Breakfast was included in the cost and was quite fulfilling. Staff was helpful and nice to talk to. We got free parking with the hotel.

The location to all the walks around Castleton is excellent. The food offer is good and the quality of the dishes are very good. We had a room facing the entrance of the hotel and it was not noisy at all for the three days we stayed. There is a good size car park next to the hotel.
