Skarv Lines Adventure Cruises is a small, family-run business offering unique cruises around Scotland’s coasts and islands aboard Nova Spero. The boat itself has a story — originally a working trawler built in 1973, Nova Spero was saved from scrappage by owner John MacInnes and carefully restored at the renowned Macduff Shipyards. Still very much a working vessel, she now spends much of the year exploring Scotland’s islands and coastal waters. At selected times, she returns to Corpach on the Caledonian Canal, giving guests a rare opportunity to step aboard and experience this way of life for themselves. Everything we offer — both cruises and overnight stays — is run with a personal, welcoming approach, focusing on simple pleasures, beautiful surroundings, and the quiet pace of life on the water. It’s not just somewhere to stay, but a chance to experience something a little different — whether exploring Scotland’s coastline or enjoying a peaceful night alongside the canal.

A unique boat-and-breakfast experience aboard our beautifully converted trawler on Scotland’s Caledonian Canal. For limited periods between West Coast cruises, Nova Spero returns to Corpach — offering a rare opportunity to enjoy life on board in a truly memorable setting. Moored on the Caledonian Canal just outside Fort William, the boat is surrounded by water, mountains, and wide Highland skies, creating a calm and distinctive alternative to traditional accommodation. Guests stay in cosy private cabins — simple, comfortable spaces designed for relaxing after a day exploring. Bathroom facilities are shared, but the focus is on the experience: being right on the water, enjoying the peaceful setting, and watching canal life unfold. Please note that guests book individual cabins on board, sharing the vessel with a small number of other guests, creating a relaxed and sociable atmosphere. Each morning begins with a freshly cooked, hearty Scottish breakfast, served on board in a friendly, informal atmosphere, alongside cereal, toast, and hot drinks. Guests are welcome to use the lounge and deck areas — perfect for morning coffee, evening drinks, or enjoying a takeaway while boats pass gently along the canal. Ideally located for exploring the area, Nova Spero is close to Neptune’s Staircase, the Corpach shipwreck, and the route of the Jacobite Steam Train, with Fort William and Ben Nevis just a short distance away.
