Property info

Orchard Yurt is a spacious 16-foot diameter yurt offering a unique blend of luxurious camping and home comforts, sleeping two in a king-size bed beneath a clear roof window perfect for stargazing under Exmoor's dark skies. Fully insulated with a cosy wood burner (logs included), it also features a chest of drawers, bedside tables, a small table and bean-bag chairs, with bed linen provided. Just outside, an oak-framed outdoor kitchen offers a two-ring gas hob, pans, crockery and cutlery for alfresco cooking, plus a decked seating area with a dining table and chairs. There's also a private wood-fired hot tub (logs included, heated for your arrival) screened for privacy with lovely orchard views, and your own fire pit with BBQ grill and camp chairs. Solar power supplies lighting, a fridge and phone charging, and a Bluetooth radio is provided, though there is no wi-fi (mobile signal is generally good). A private, lockable toilet and shower room is located around 50 metres away in the shared facilities building, with towels and toiletries included, along with a shared washing-up area. Mains drinking water is also available there, as there is no running water at the yurt itself. A complimentary breakfast is included on your first morning, with breakfast hampers and BBQ packs available to order directly from the owner for an additional cost. The yurt sits in a two-acre orchard alongside two shepherd's huts, each thoughtfully spaced with screening for privacy and each with its own private toilet/shower room and hot tub. The orchard lawn is unfenced. Private off-road parking for one car is available at the edge of the orchard, a short walk to the yurt. One medium dog or two small dogs are welcome for a supplement of GBP 10 per dog, with a dog bed and bowls available on request; dogs must be kept under control at all times. Please note this property is not suitable for children and is not suitable for those with restricted mobility or wheelchair access.

Neighborhood info

Allerford is a picturesque hamlet on the Holnicote Estate in the heart of Exmoor National Park, famous for its beautiful medieval packhorse bridge over the River Aller. Nestled between Porlock and Minehead on the northern edge of the moor, this tiny settlement of stone cottages and farmsteads sits within one of the finest landscapes in Somerset. The entire hamlet is part of the Holnicote Estate, which has been owned and managed by the National Trust since 1944, preserving its unspoilt character and surrounding woodland, farmland, and open moorland. The Village Allerford's packhorse bridge is one of the finest in Somerset, a beautiful twin-arched medieval structure that has been a crossing point for centuries. Beside the bridge stands the former village school, now home to the Allerford Museum, a charming local history collection covering rural life on Exmoor. The hamlet is very small and quiet, with no shop, pub, or other commercial premises -- its appeal lies in its peacefulness and the beauty of its setting. Nearby Villages and Services The National Trust showpiece village of Selworthy is just half a mile away, with its famous thatched cottages, medieval church, and wonderful views across the vale to Dunkery Beacon. Porlock, approximately 2 miles west, is a thriving village with a good range of shops, pubs, restaurants, galleries, and a pharmacy. Minehead, approximately 4 miles east, is the nearest town and has supermarkets, banks, and all essential services. For larger shopping, Taunton is approximately 30 miles away.
