Penicuik Estate has been owned and managed by the Clerk family since 1654, successive generations have taken turns to manage this unique place creating a remarkable legacy of landscape, architecture and pioneering rural enterprise. Once a hub of the Scottish Enlightenment, today the Penicuik Designed Landscape and its collection of Palladian architecture rank as some of the finest and most original in Scotland.
